I'm pretty sure none of those films are in danger of being remade, guys. The only remake I have any interest in is Aja's Hill's Have Eyes remake. Any other recent remake is moot (even HHE is kind of moot), and not worthy of our attention. There are simply too many of them, especially in the horror field.
Ishtar.
I was listening to a commentary track last night and one of the participants raised a very valid point. Why spend so much time remaking the great film, when there are so many c**p ones that they haven't got right yet?
The Evil Dead - Rami has a hard on for PG-13 horror films, and hearing that he's going to remake this film will be ruin this violent classic.
Predator - I read that they're going to remake this. WHY???

He's already remade Evil Dead - it's called Evil Dead 2! Fekkin' filmmakers are totally bereft of ideas...
Westworld

This kind of feeds into Chris's post. As Ishtar is considered to be so bad, why not remake it? Even in some bad films, there are usually some good ideas. The hard part is identifying them and bringing them out. And keeping the authors/producers of the failed 'original' at bay when they sue you for plagarism, of course.

Casablanca. Honestly, I heard once they were considering it, but I doubt that it would ever happen.

This worked for Ocean's Eleven. The first movie was pretty c**ppy (at least for someone that didn't grow up with the Rat Pack). I thought the remake was excellent, though Joe Average Moviegoer probably didn't know it was a remake.

Evil Dead II wasn't exactly a remake, the only reason they re-did the begining was because they didn't have the rights to use the clips for the first film.
I know they are re-making "WestWorld" I just wish they woudn't.
what! there remaking oldboy, god I hate them !!!! I am soooooo sick of these f**king cocksucking no idea move t****rs, they only remake foreign films because they think the mainstream audience are to dumb to read the subtitles lol
Dirty Harry
I hate to admit it, but I don't really have any problems with them remaking Westworld. I probably won't go see it, but it really doesn't bother me. In a way it was already remade as Jurrassic Park, you have to use your imagination, but there are some simularites, including the original author.
Stanley Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange"

I know Bryan Singer is preparing a remake of "Logan's Run." After the release of "The Island," it isn't necessary.
Donnie says that a remake of Westworld is in the works with Arnold. Is he leaving politics and going back into the movies? I thought that for the time being he was out of the game.
Capt,
I think the Arnold rumor is very old. I remember hearing that he would remake Westword and Omega Man sometime ago (long before he became governor). The Westworld remake is happening, but I haven't heard anything definite on casting yet.

Just seen that they are remaking Back to School, which was a classic film with a very funny rodney dangerfield, with cedric the entertainter playing the role that rodney played this is just a sin against hollywood. Cedric can be a little funny in certain roles but I'm not really a fan but come on your ruining a classic with a bad actor.
The problem with remaking "The Honeymooners" or "Back To School" is that they were basically vehicles for both Jackie Gleason and Rodney Dangerfield. If you take either of those personalities out of the equation it just doesn't add up to much.
They are also remaking Porky's.
I'm still laughing about someone calling Back to School a classic, and now you're brining up Porky's. Only room for improvement there. (Sorry, I'm just being a curl)
Well, it is a thread on remakes. Not saying Porky's is a classic by a long shot (though I watched it recently and it still holds up quite well for what it was.)

Jaws
