Snappers to Amarays
Does anyone know if the ugly snappers are a thing of the past? Will the studios re-release their earlier catalogue in Amarays instead?

I detest snappers almost as much as dual-sided discs, and the two features togetehr are enough to keep me away from any purchase.

They might be rare in the UK, but we've got MORE than enough of them here in the states.   MORE than enough.

They're not rare over here, but they have been phased out. They totally suck. BoBoi is living in a parallel universe.

I'm really R3 Thailand

Only stayed in the UK because of higher education, going back and fwd all the time...

Now very rare...so many collectors go aboard to HK just to buy snappers...

But I totally understand, people have different taste...

this thread: http://www.siamdvd.net/showthread.php?t=71&...

...is just an example of ppl at my webboard praising snappers and own hundreds of them

Somehow we think it's artistic and unique for collectors la...same way as digipak or premium set...

Happy

Speechless that people hate snappers?  Or speechless that people like them?

I hate snappers too, most of the ones I own are pretty much ripped. Warner always used to use them back 2001 - 2003/04, I'm glad they stopped selling DVDs in them.

Isn't that because they owned the company that made them?

I have a few older non-WB discs in snapper cases, such as my prized copy of MST3K: The Movie but I did hear somewhere back that Warner Bro. had a stake in the company that made them.

I dislike snappers but dislike the fact that companies changed to Amaray. I have 2001 in a snapper but the rest of my Kurbick collection in Amaray - doesn't look too great.

Glad I'm not the only one who hates snappers. I detest them so much that I'm determined to buy my entire snapper collection if I can find them in Amaray version!

I like snapper cases and am sorry to see them phased out. Yes they needed treating with care but they were a good way to indentify Warner titles in your collection. Personally I thought the first DVD cases by Polygram (UK R2) were the best. The first DVD I bought was Big Lebowski (R2) and it came in a slim clear plastic case which still stands out from the rest even now.

Amaray is the beige of DVD cases. So cheap in manufacture. So anaemic in design.

I did not like the Snapper Case. To me it made the DVD seem Cheap.

Good point.  I feel the same with cardboard CD containers as well.

I have such a hang up that I wont buy any movie in a snapper case. No Interview with a vampire or Bloodsport or even Pump Up the Volume

I wouldn't buy any of those either, but it has nothing to do with their packaging.  Very Happy

You guys are arguing about plastic.....

Just kidding.  I prefer amaray, however the packaging of a movie would never stop me from buying a film I wanted.  Although nice packaging is a plus.
