Yes I'm serious... no they don't charge you... and I've been ordering for years, since before there was a .ca
In fact I just got a few items just the other day. One of which is the Errol Flynn signature collection for $30, Best Buy Canada has it on now for $62 after tax.
The most expensive i've ever ordered was probably the buffy the vampire set. $320 in stores in my area, got it for $150 on the site.
One possibility in Amazon's case is their return addy is in Mississauga Ontario. They might have a distribution hub there or qualify as a canadian business. Although you still can't order their way cheaper electronic goods, so who knows.
As long as you order multiple items at once to justify the $8.50 shipping cost, you'll save handfuls of cash and NEVER get those horrible bi-lingual covers or have to compromise the special features to fit french c**p.
Hope that helps. Sadly, you should NEVER buy Canadian if you have a choice.

so does amazon slap on a value of under $20 all the time? how long have been ordering stuff from amazon.com? wow, you're totally serious they never charged you for customs?
Nope...no customs bills from Amazon.com - I dunno how, but you won't get hit. Dont ever order from amazon.ca, theyre a big joke. Not only are the prices higher, but you have to pay tax and shipping. Buy from .com and you pay exchange which is lower then tax and work it out with the savings and shipping and you can save big on most items.
I've paid $30 for some DVD sets on .com that I've seen in retail stores for $120 here. If that's not incentive I dont know what is.
Lasersedge.com wont get you hit with customs either. They ship to Canada and claim on the box your shipment is a $10 data disc...hehe

The French speaking Canadians maybe?
"I say Terrance!"

i got it from amazon.ca and it turned out to be the us version! customer support said that non-bilingual versions have import listed in the product details and that they don't get it from canadian manufacturers . so under product details, look for Format: Import, AC-3, Dolby, Dubbed, NTSC, Subtitled, Widescreen .
pretty dumb how the bilingual version costs more than the us version on that site. who would order that version? im just glad they offered 2 versions. so amazon.ca does have the us version of some dvds, you just gotta look for the keyword, Import. and compare the ASIN#.
plus dont you get dinged from customs if you order it from amazon.com?

You will ALWAYS get bi-lingual covers now. It's pretty much become the norm in Canada. Very rarely will there not be one. You'll even often find that special features have been dropped in favor of French stuff. Sin City lacking the DTS track in Canada comes to mind. I suggest if you wanna get the real version and get it cheaper then retail stores, you get it from Amazon.com - I haven't bought from a Canadian retailer for years because of those reasons.
No French for me, just a really ugly cover.
I don't have access to my copy atm, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't have any french on the cover.
Spider-man 2.1 Bilingual cover or not?
There's 2 versions on Amazon.ca.
http://www.amazon.ca/Spider-Man-2-1-Sam-Raimi/d...
ASIN:B000MTFDBA
http://www.amazon.ca/Spider-Man-2-1/dp/B000N4S8...
ASIN:B000N4S816
So is ASIN:B000MTFDBA the US version? I searched amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-2-1-Unrated-Ex... and it has the same ASIN number as the one in amazon.ca
