Ok, it's pretty obvious that he's the Sandman.

You know, waiting for this 2.5 DVD finally paid off. The local pawn shop has so damn many copies of the original DVD that I finally picked it up for 4 bucks. To hell with this 2.5 business.

Spider-man 3 Villain pic revealed!
I have to agree that the Spider Man DVD features have been very poor.  When they rereleased the first movie prior to the sequel, it came with the preview of SM2 and some extra features on the making of 1.  But, the behind the scenes footage was still not worth the extra dollar I paid.  I stick with the extended LOTR, se7en, fight club, Gladiator, and Criterion releases as best DVD releases with special features without seeming like a big shameless pat on the back promotional material.

You're welcome. I would have put up a link but I didn't have enough time.

I'm definitely in agreement about the disappointment of the Special Features for both Spider-Man DVDs!  Wasn't anything that made it worth dishing out the extra cash!
If it does happen, then Spiderman will be taken to a completly different level without James Franco.

Yeah that possibility was also brought up. I hope that isnt the case though, Hobgoblin is such a cool character and that would totally kill the story of Hobgoblin.

Yep, that's the truth. But here's the rest (seriously, though, don't read it if you didn't already read the contents of the last spoiler.):

Spoiler  Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace are indeed playing the same villain, and midway through the film, Grace will take over in order to get close to Mary Jane.

Or at least that's the rumor I've heard, but with 2007 still a ways off, it could very well/probably will change.

Actually that rumor was debunked about a month ago. The new "rumor" is this

Spoiler Church is playing Sandman and Grace will play Venom

although that is going to have huge plotholes if its true
I don't think that Venom should be shared with other villians, he should be the only villian in a Spidey movie.
What do you guys think of the villians for the next trilogy of Spider-Man (you guys did hear there will be three more after this?)

I don't think the studios care about what we think.  Money talks to them.

You took the words right out of my mouth!!
They're changing it every two seconds.

During an interview this weekend promoting Elizabethtown, Kirsten Dunst confirmed rumors to Zap2it that Thomas Haden Church will play Sandman and Topher Grace is Venom in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, opening in theaters on May 4, 2007.

marketing sham
Sigh...still, it's just shameless that the studios are awaiting a little before the release of Spider-Man 3 before they release the special edition of Spider-Man 2.  In fact, honestly, I have been pretty disappointed by all the special features on both dvd releases of Spider-Man!  They were ok but nothing that would make me felt I got my money's worth!  The only DVDs that I felt gave me my moneys worth were Fight Club, Se7en, LOTR, and anything Criterion puts out.  Most of the time it's shameless ego trips when one watches the extras on generic DVDs on mediocre movies.

That's what I heard too.

If that is the truth, then that is one of the biggest dissapointments ever in film

It's too early.  Just like Spider-Man Deluxe Edition DVD, they probably want to add the SM3 teaser trailer.  Production start shooting in January and the movie won't be out til summer of 2007.

Does anyone know the status of this DVD? It was supposed to have additional scenes which Sam Raimi still had to direct/design. This was announced about a year ago. Is there any indication of when we can expect it?
