There are lots of crazy rumors floating around. It's pretty obvious which ones are bunk. Maybe some fools were just waiting for the new year to float them online?

What they are saying is why try and fix something that isn't broken, i.e. why bother remaking an instant classic that is still watched by millions of children?

I wouldn't be surprised if a remake was considered. They remade "King Kong" twice and still can't top the original. The fact a film has classic status has not hampered the studios from considering remakes. In many ways, a bad remake or sequel is a better bet financially than something unknown.  Does anyone remember the failed attempt at a "Wizard of Oz" sequel? The film was called "Return to Oz" and it had as much charm as the bird-flu virus. However, I must say I enjoyed the recent live-action "Peter Pan." It was so much better than "Hook" and it captured much of the charm of the Disney animated classic. I was surprised it didn't fare too well at the box office. The more I think about it, maybe "Mary Poppins" could be remade as a comedy with Robin Williams in drag....  oh, nevermind, that's already been done.
