I will buy the 4 Superset and the Donner Cut
Ahh. Yes. If true then you're quite correct. This set isn't all that it could be. I'd be happy without the George Reeves stuff (no disrespect to the man) and the theatrical of SM: The Movie. My (completely redundant) wish list would be:-

Disc 1: Superman: The Movie (Directors/Extended Cut
Disc 2: Extras (possibly incorporating material for SM2 as well)

Disc 3: Superman 2: Theatrical (plus extras)
Disc 4: Superman 2: Directors Cut (plus extras)

Disc 5: Superman 3 (Extras. But I don't really know what extras I'd be wanting to see on this film)

Disc 6: Superman 4 (Extras. Deleted scenes incl. Clive Mantle's nuclear man scenes)

There. 6 discs. Nice round figure.

and now won't even feature the Donner cut of #2...
From EXTRAORDINARY to disapointing... I had high hopes for this set.

How did you arrive at that conclusion (that the Donner version won't be included) based on the above Yahoo link?
What the hell?

This has changed, so if III and IV are just one disc each then I guess we won't get the deleted scenes for IV. This is very disappointing. I've been looking forward to this Box set.
Man, I hate Warner. They produce some excellent titles, but they are total b*****ds when it comes to RRPs and value for money.
Dustin wrote: Man this blows.

The set has gone from 14-discs to 8 discs, and now won't even feature the Donner cut of #2... you'll have to buy that seperate.  You get the 4-disc Superman, 2 disc Lester Superman 2, and one disc per 3 and 4.

From EXTRAORDINARY to disapointing... I had high hopes for this set.

There could be several varities of the box set offered at once.  I can understand not wanting to do a 14 disc set as the SRP may be daunting to the average consumer.

Huh.  Looks like the box set has changed quite a bit since it was announced.  No Returns and no supergirl.
Yahoo is reporting on this set now.  I just noticed that this includes the theatrical and directors cut of the first movie.  I can retire my old laserdisc now.
Well its more news than we have had so far. .....lets hope its accurate .....
I heard November 21, 2006 but its not offical... I saw it on another web-page
when they feel like it - prob sometime in september or october since the box is supposed to come out in late november.
just when will Warner Brothers give us more information?
Here you go. Warner Bros. did say something at a press conference.

How about that 3 hr Online Chat( The Home Theater Forum ) back in Feb. by Warner Bros. Home Video department - You can check out what they said regarding the Boxed Set....
So there you go, straight from the horse's mouth!

http://www.movie-list.com/forum/showthread.php?...
I looked at the possible list. Where's Supergirl??? Not listed!
honestly, thats way too much s**t that I would have no use for
SPLOOSH!

After doing some MAJOR digging, I finally found this article that I remembered reading months ago. I'm even more excited about the Kubrick SEs.

Also, they mention that they will all be released on HD-DVD day-and-date. Holy Sheite!

Nice site, but still nothing official, Tony.

Wink

Hows about I let you off the hook and point you in the right direction:

1) Go to The Official Superman Returns Site
2) Head towards the links near the bottom of the main image and click on Legacy.
3) Make sure to check out the 'Calendar' section.

When we know more details we'll let you know.

I was at a Canadian DVD awards show in April, and there was a wicked cool, giant ice sculpture of crystal formations with a rotating daily planet on top for Superman: Returns there.

I will be the first in line to buy this.  I have been waiting for Richard Donner's Superman II for years.  I remember going to see this movie knowing that "Brando" was cut out of it.
Director7 wrote: So what is this Donner Cut I keep hearing of?  What's different about it?

Richard Donner was the director of "Superman: The Movie", he was going to film that and "Superman II" back to back. However, halfway through production of "II" there was a dispute (budget, plus Marlon Brando was suing for a percentage of the profits). So, Warner Brothers fired him halfway, and brought Richard Lester to direct the rest. This was done over the period of 2 years (hence the delay of the sequel, Christopher Reeve's and Margot Kidder's appearance, and Gene Hackman refused to return for reshoots). Also Jor-El (Marlon Brando) was supposed to be the hologram in the Fortress of Solitude, instead of Lara (Superman's mother). But since Brando was suing, they cut him out. The Donner Cut is basically putting back the unused Jor El footage and other for a more coherent and overalll better "Superman II".
So what is this Donner Cut I keep hearing of?  What's different about it?
That's a great site. Gives a lot of details on what might be included in the Donner Cut of Superman II.
If that doesn't count as a source, here is another one:

If you would keep reading down you'd see that I've since been convinced otherwise by Mr. Tony, so.......you know......maybe next time.

Oh I read that already. Just wanted to get my dig in too.
From what Warner has said, every film will have it's own disc of special features.  I'm not crazy about 3 and 4 but I'd like to see something along the lines of their Batman Anthology.  Documentaries and featurettes that aren't afraid to admit that the films were c**p, and that further uncover WHY they were c**p.
So, does the studio just ignore, and c**p over Superman 3 & 4 since Brian Singer decided they were not in his movie continuity?  Granted I do not like 4, and put up with 3, it seems there should be SOME type of add'l behind the scenes things we could see added to these flicks.  I am just thinking, if they are going to add them, then they should be looked at too, as something more than a way to up the disk count on a special release.
Don't know how much they crosscheck things over there, but I wouldn't count on DVDAficionado.com as being a wholly reliable source seeing as anyone can add a title to their database...

Director7 wrote: How is THAT possible?! Even if Superman 1, 2, 3 and whatever were 3 Discs each it wouldn't even fill 14 total discs. STupid rumor, I don't think anyones biting.

For a stupid rumor that's been confirmed a few months ago? :p
Johnny, I'm just curious... what the hell is that on your signature?

This isn't a rumor, it's been confirmed by WB themselves numerous times. The extra discs will consist of bonus material, including all of the now public domain Max Fleischer Cartoons, newly remastered by WB.

Dustin is right. Supergirl is NOT included, although it is coming.

Tony DeFrancisco wrote: Now how about that for a little slice of fried gold?

Haha shut me up, this is similar to the Alien Quadrilogy, no?

Will this Ultimate Edition come out before Superman Returns on DVD? Or at the same time? I want them to announce it!!

Now how about that for a little slice of fried gold? (think that is how it goes, right?)

It's no rumour, friend.

I hear tell that Supergirl won't be included.
Course it's possible. All four movies, the Donnor cut of Superman 2, Supergirl will have 2 discs, Superman Returns and two more discs of extras.
Duuuh.
:p
