The Boys in Company C finally coming to DVD!!! Courtesy of Hen's Tooth Video, the classic 1978 Vietnam war film which many, including myself consider the 'original Full Metal Jacket' (it was R. Lee Ermey's first acting role for one thing!) is arriving on DVD on September 2, 2008!  After writing to Hen's Tooth's official website inquiring about the details of the release, I received a press sheet from them for the release!  The film will (for the first time since its theatrical release) be presented in its original Scope Widescreen anamorphic aspect ratio of 2.35:1, and will contain the following Special Features:  Audio Commentary by star Andrew Stevens, the original Theatrical Trailer, and a gallery of original lobby cards.

Retail price $24.95 but Amazon has it available for a pre-order for $21.99

Plot Summarry (Courtesy of Hen's Tooth's press sheet):  "Set in 1967, The Boys in Company C follows the lives of five Marine inductees from their training in boot camp through a tour of duty in Vietnam that quickly devolves into a hellish nightmare. Disheartened by futile combat, appalled by the corruption of their South Vietnamese ally, and constantly endangered by the incompetence of their own company commander, the young men discover a possible way out of the war. They are told that if they can defeat a rival soccer team they may spend the rest of their tour playing exhibition games safely behind the lines.  But, as might be expected, nothing in Vietnam is as simple as
