I'm still converting my VHS to DVD
Yes DannyBoy, that was the subject link I provided in the new topic. You should read that. The big concern is copying the material, as its been for decades. They just need to get over it.

a win for us!!!

Not that it's in the same subject but Australia's High Court ruled unanimously that modifying Sony PlayStation consoles so that they can play cheaper overseas versions of the company's games does not violate Australian copyright laws.
Only a select few who are so anal about the perfect sound and picture who are going to buy them.
HD TV sets are so stupidly expensive and even when they do eventually drop in price it'll take about five years or so for the general public to take note when they see one going cheap at Asda (Walmart),
By that time a whole new movie format will arrive making HD-DVD and Blu Ray non existant.
What Sony and Toshiba don't realise is that their product will only interest in a small percentage of the population the rest of the world don't care.
For that same amount of money, they would rather spend it on doing the house up, go on holiday, buy clothes, or if you live in the UK piss it up the wall on a Friday or Saturday.
night.

Now Warner is involved with Blu-Ray now.
There will always be Blu-ray, as Sony always use their own technology where possible.
Just got to see whether the rest of the world go with the Sony idea or the industry standards idea.
You never know, might end up using the Chinese HD format, most of our players are made there and many of us buy DVDs from Asia.

I'll wait. I'm not going to just throw away all my DVDs just because they say HD DVD and Blu Ray are the new generation for DVDs. I'll just sit back and see how it all goes first. I'm sure HD DVD and Blu Ray have their pros in terms of overall quality. But, it's too soon to start a new format. Who knows, maybe one of these formats can co-exist with the existing DVD format?
Maybe we should all sit back and not worry about it till the format war is over.....
According to the Digital Bits, Paramount is now supporting this project.

Yes, I agree. I'm enjoying DVD immensely. But you can't let technology stand still. Have you seen a HD picture? With the market heading to large TV screens, its really necessary, because without it the picture quality is substandard compared to standard 4:3.

The DVD format war goes to the next level
It would be nice to get HD DVD. I just wish the wars would stop and a standard be adopted and production start. Anyway, here is the latest.
