No it's not. Not really. It's quite poor in places actually. Damn shame.
That's a bummer.

Thank you!  Just saw the movie and told my friends to stay til the end of credits.  Everybody in theatres left and my friends wanted to go, but I remember what you wrote and ended up staying by myself LOL...worth the interesting final ending.
Chris wrote: Why, does Apocalypse show up?
That would be pretty cool, but it would've been cooler if he showed up at the half way point to put everyone out of their impending cinematic misery.

Blasphemy.... X3 was trash.

Anyways, here we go....

T3
RoTK
RoTS
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
Matrix Revolutions (I know...I know...)
HP Azkaban
Die Hard 3
Jurassic Park 3
Back to the Future 3 (I'm a sucker for westerns, and this aint that bad on its own merit)
Heaven & Earth (Pt. 3 of Oliver Stone's Nam trilogy)
Chasing Amy (Jersey Trilogy)
Why, does Apocalypse show up?
X3 is better than X1.

BTW stay till the end of credits.
Chris wrote: It would have been easier if you'd said second film in a series, cause the second act is usually the most interesting. Same thing kinda applies to film in a very loose sort of way:

Empire Strikes Back
Aliens
Oldboy
BTTF 2
Matrix Reloaded
Godfather II
And add on X2 and The Two Towers to the list.

Did anyone get a catch of X-Men 3 today? Can you tell me if it's good or not?
I'm going to be predictable and go for the obvious ones:

Return of the Jedi
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

Not necessarily the best films of all time, but I am very fond of them.

ROTK needs a mention. Obviously BTTF 3 is pretty good, but not quite in the same league as the others. Matrix Revolutions was a let down after the first two. Someone already mentioned Lady V, which is a great end to the vengeance trilogy.

I'd even say that Dream Warriors was the best Elm street film.

I am a staunch supporter of Halloween III: Season of the Witch myself. Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors was another good second sequel.
The Godfather III

No, ... lol... I am just joking.  There were so many already mentioned on my list, I didn't want to repeat anyone, so I was just making a joke.
Gabe Powers wrote: Do Lady Vengeance or The Good The Bad and The Ugly count?

I don't see why The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly wouldn't count.  It was the third in the series of the Man with No Name.
Mal
"Don't know enough about the other." as in probably seen it but I have no idea. Tongue

Bear in mind I am a fake film fanatic who's actually a programmer in disguise. To give you an example, I only saw Taxi Driver for the first time some weeks ago when it was on BBC 1.
What? You've never seen The Good, the Bad and the Ugly?!? Mal!
Mal
Lady Vengeance... yes. Don't know enough about the other.

Yup, looks like it. Happy
Intergalactic Ponce wrote: Richard III
The Third Man
Three

har har, I'll add Three Extremes and Three Kings to that list.

As for Mal's question - Return of the King, Return of the Jedi, Army of Darkness and Day of the Dead are kind of a tie.

Do Lady Vengeance or The Good The Bad and The Ugly count?
Highlander 3:The Sorceror - There can be only three.
Three Ami....

..hang on. I've gone and got completely the wrong end of the dog here haven't I?
Richard III
The Third Man
Three
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Species 3
Mission Impossible 3

looking forward for The Bourne Ultimatum
Adrian wrote: Halloween III.....I thought most people hated that movie because it has nothing to do with the rest of the series.

I've always bucked the trends of Halloween.  I like Season.  Seems that 3's in horror movies are the weakest entries except for F13 and Halloween.
Return of the King
Harry Potter 3
Revenge of the Sith

There is more that I just can't think of.
Halloween III.....I thought most people hated that movie because it has nothing to do with the rest of the series.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
Friday the 13th: 3D
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
Day of the Dead
Rocky III (this is still one of my all time favorite guilty pleasures)
Die Hard with a Vengeance
Return of the Jedi/Return of the King

Honorable Mentions:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Dracula, Prince of Darkness
The Evil of Frankenstein
Ginger Snaps Back
Indiana Jones and the Last Crucade
Lethal Weapon 3
Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of Terror
Day of the Dead
Revenge of the Sith
Another Thin Man
Austin Powers in Goldmember
So many to choose from, so I'm gonna stick to the '80s for this one:

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Return of the Jedi
Rocky III
Mal
Top Three Thirds
Confusing title but all I am asking is... what are your top three films that were released as the third in a series? It doesn't matter if they are prequels, sequels, tv movies or a closely linked series of movies, just so long as it was the third film released by date.

Just to give examples: Alien 3, Ring 0, Three Colours: Red, I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. You cannot include remakes (unless they are a series of remakes), mini-series or any TV series in general. Basically movies only.
