UK DVD need to play in USA?
I had a friend bring over DVDs from the UK, what is the best way for me to view them? Have them burnt from somebody who can play region 2 dvds or get a new dvd that plays region 2 discs?

there are 2 options :
- buy Region-free DVD player
- watch it on Computer DVD Player usng DVD-Region free program

Many players can be 'hacked' from the remote control, by entering a numerical code that unlocks the player to a region free coding. Although most Sonys and Panasonics won't allow you to do this, nearly every other brand on the planet will. Just google a 'remote hack for (enter brand name here)' and you should be fine. My Philips is region 2, but after 3 mins on the net, I found a hack, and now its region free!! Worth a try at the very least.
Remember that your DVD player will need to convert the PAL signal to NTSC, or your TV will need to be able to handle a PAL signal directly.
