You'll find that most North American equipment doesnt work in europe. Research the local HDTV resolutions, the difference between PAL and NTSC.
How is the box and display connected, is it an HDMI cable?
HDTV will not work in germany
The signal is not PAL or NTSC its a 1080i signal fron the set top box made by permere and goes to the HDMI port. No tuner is involved
HDTV will not workmin Germany
The cable is HDMI
The signal has to be either PAL or NTSC and that is where your problem lies--the 1080i resolution doesn't play into it. If the television was made for an NTSC video signal, which I'd have to presume it was seeing as you bought in the U.S., then you are going to have problems with the PAL video signal used in Europe.
I originally thought it might be something to do with digital terrestrial, as the US have ATSC whilst here it's DVB, but ondisc's using a German decoder connected directly to the display via HDMI.
I don't think the PAL/NTSC issues apply for HDTV resolutions, although Matt could be correct in one way. If the Premiere box is for some weird reason using a menu/navigation system with SDTV PAL resolutions then the display might have trouble.
