I've never been much of a fan. The Insider and Manhunter are my favorites of his films. Heat always seemd to be about one hour to long to me. I respect him as an artist, and acknowledge he has a distinct style, but his work rarely excites me.
One of my favourite.....I'm a big fan of his two films "Heat" and "Collateral"..great director.
Traditionally, he's a better producer then director - but you can count me in as a fan.
He's America's Ridley Scott. The Insider is probably my favourite M.M. film followed by Heat, Collateral and Ali. Although I'm confident Miami Vice will be in the top three before too long. Love the work he's doing with digital, I just wish he'd elaborate a bit more in his next commentary. I thought he would talk more about it on Collateral but he just skimmed the surface on the subject. His perogative I suppose. You don't want to give the Michael Mann recipe away to quickly but more of please. We are interested.

Some opinion is indifferent towards him, but for a director who constantly hits such a high mark I cant understand the indifference to him...so tell me what you guys think
