Yeah Oppo and Neodigits are nice because they aren't hacked, and are decently priced.
I'll echo what's already been said, but the Oppo Digital OPDV971H is an excellent player and has more to it than just being region free. I suggest ordering it directly through them though as you get a few extras over ordering it through a site such as Amazon. They also offer firmware upgrades through their site and their service and support are excellent.
Also, if you actually want cheaper ones, have a look on Amazon.com, look for the most popular models; read the comments to make sure you are happy with any shortcomings and you can make them region-free.
That Oppo player got the best test results of any player ever in the prog scan shootouts. I wanted one, but it needs a digital input and I've only got analogue component on my CRT.
Neodigits does seem to be the best manufacturer for feature packed players that have a level of quality. There's also Oppo Digital.

UKers need to understand that almost none of the stores in the US sell region free players. Most of us have to special order them.
I really did like my Neo Digits Helios player I got for review, but they've made some updates, and I should have another review up sometime next month. I also have a decent JVC model, but that one does not upscale to HD.

Most players are region free. Just find the one you like the look of and check on the extras section of this site (player hacks) to see if it's hackable or not. Then you go to a shop, hand the assistant some money and go home with your player.
Try not to hurt yourself in the process though.
