What Movie did you HATE that everybody else Loved "Top Gun", "Field of Dreams" if my dad heard voices I send him to "The Home"

Wedding Crashers... I know so many people who loved it... but if we turn the thread around to what movie did you Loved that everybody else hated, I'd have to go with Deuce Bigalow 2.

I like most films... Mission Impossible 2 is enjoyed by many but on each attempt to watch it I've for whatever reason turned it off after 20 minutes. Just doesn't grab my attention, the first was on a totally different level though.

"The Last Emperor".  I didn't hate it but I didn't understand the big deal.

This alones tells me Tony doesn't have very good taste in movies!  Well, see, I tried to enjoy Wedding Crashers and yes, I will admit, I had a few chuckles, but I didn't get the whole point of that movie. Yes, Deuce Bigalow 2 was not needed, but I found it to be pretty good. I will admit I thought that 40 Year Old Virgin was the best movie of the three.

I've mentioned two films in another thread that were letdowns for me, Lost in Translation and The Constant Gardner.  But, the film that I just couldn't get into was Sin City.  The opening sequences with Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke were very good, but I thought the film degenerated from there.  Testosterone on steroids.  I thought the sequence with the scantily clad heavily armed army of prostitutes taking back the streets from the bad guys was bad to the point of being laughable.  And the storyline with an aging Bruce Willis turning away the babe was ludicrous.  Bruce---what were you thinking???  In my book it gets an A+ for style and an F for content.  It seemed as if Frank Miller was trying to prove through his storytelling just how tough and how much of a regular guy he really is.  On the other hand, Robert Rodriguez's over the top stylized approach to Once Upon a Time in Mexico was great!  Maybe the difference is that Sin City took itself too seriously while Once Upon a Time in Mexico revelled in it's tongue in cheek action.

Tony, I blind bought Wedding Crashers and I wasn't impressed.  It was okay but not great.  I also loved 40 Year Old Virgin, but I dont' know.  Wedding Crashers just didn't do it for me.  And Adrian, you don't need "life experience" to get it.  I knew when they were trying to be funny, like when they were at dinner and she was "touching" him, I just wasn't amused.  An average movie at best.

A movie I hate that people love is Ocean's Twelve.  Again, I blind bought it and wasn't impressed.  The thing about the first one that I liked was how "cool" everyone was and how simple of a story it was, and I think Twelve got lost in the idea of making something elaborate, rather then the simplicity of Eleven.

The Shawshank Redemtption. This movie is way overrated in my opinion.

Could be because you are 14?  Some movies, not necessarily saying that Wedding Crashers is one of them, do require some life experience to be able to enjoy them.I've been to many weddings before if that is what you are meaning about life experience.

Second, anyone who didn't like The Brood didn't get it. That's said about a lot of films, but I think it applies most strongly to just about every film in the Cornenberg cannon. For instance, I didn't like Crash, and it's most likely because I didn't get it.

I'll jump in with my old "overrated discussion standby", Mystic River. It was heavy handed dreck. I've also hated pretty much every major comedy aimed at the youth circut or featuring overtly sexual humor ever. Something About Mary? Hated it. American Pie? Hated it. Meet the Parents? I was in pain. Etc Etc Etc.

Oh, and the Austin Powers movies.

Pretty much anything that is made, packaged, and sold as a comedy, I hated.

The Brood was just a bad excuse for Cronenberg to bad mother women and it was an extremely stupid film which was a bad excuse to be even made

I mean bad mouth women not bad mother and it was distustin slock of idiotic acting,directing,gory, and it was just boring andi  tried to like it cause I love Cronenberg but it was awful

English would have helped though

King Kong is overrated. I thought it was boring as hell (maybe that's cause it didn't have a half naked Jessica Lange in it).

A lot of people seemed to love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I thought it was one of the worst films of 2005.

There are loads of films I thought were overrated. War of the Worlds springs to mind (although it's still enjoyable).

The Wedding Crashers required life experience in order to appreciate it? Why can't it be that it's just not his type of humor? Why say he has bad taste and bring up his age?



You evidentally did not read the whole post!  And his age is an issue when the humor is directed toward people in their 30s.  I think Tony knows we just kid him about his age and it doesn't really mean much.
