Almost any Stephen King book could use a remake.  Unfortunately, King is as much psychological horror as physical horror and that does not generally translate well to the medium of film.
Pet Sematary for a remake.  Make it scarier and darker with better makeup and special effect.

Anyway, Brokeback Mountain should be remade... it needs another chance to win Best Picture.

Monster Squad if only for the fact the original would come out on dd
I would love to see a remake of "Love at First Bite".  It was funny.

Yeah, I really have to agree. One of the truly great actual science fiction films of our time.

T3...a highly dissapointed movie that bombed the other 'two' awesome franchises...!!
Frank Darabont is directing the remake due out in 2007.
Fahrenheit 451. Great book, god awful movie.
Superman II.  I would love to see the battle between Superman, Zod, Ursa, and Non done with today's FX technology.
I envision the Battle between Neo and Mr. Smith from the third Matrix film as a "blueprint" of what it would/could look like.
I would also like to see a remake of the awful "Doc Savage." That character deserves better treatment on film and could be a terrific franchise.

There are good and bad musicals just like any other genre. I think "Chicago" proved that a terrific musical can be produced for today's audiences.
I love the car crash in that film, you could cut out the Jackie Chan bits, but that one would have to stay.
Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan's Winners and Sinners....but without all the Jackie Chan bits...just the comedy bits...remade as a carry on film!

One of my favorite classic films is Billy Wilder's "Sunset Boulevard." I heard rumor that the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical was being considered for the big screen. The principal actors would be Glenn Close, reprising her role as Norma Desmond and Ewan McGregor as writer, Joe Gillis. "Sunset Boulevard" is one of the best Webber spectacles. I hope this makes it to the screen with these excellent actors in the roles. How 'bout Anthony Hopkins or Albert Finney as Max, Desmond's discoverer, ex-husband and butler.

I was gonna make fun of your spelling error, but I remeber you defended mine, so again, I got nothing.

We all know the prequels are eventually going to be "remade" anyway. I'd like to see Jake Lloyd replaced with an actor, and a little less of Jar Jar's schtick in Ep1, More of Anikan and Padme falling in love, y'know, to make it beleivable, in Ep 2, and maybe they could reshoot some of those less adept Jedi at the end too. Ep 3 needs to have the shots of Vader killing Jedi in the temple.
Otherwise, they're OK by me.
League Of Extroadinary Gentlemen
Van Helsing

Star Wars, Episodes 4-6

...Ok not really.

BUT there are these really cool comics I read on my lunch break one day that create a 'What If?' situation to each of the original movies, including 'what if Luke's torpedos didn't detenate?', 'what if Luke was killed by the Wampa?', and 'what if Leah's thermal detonator went off?. The later ends with Yoda fying the Death Star into Palpatine's tower and Darth Vader repenting then becoming a white knight. It sounds silly, but I really enjoyed it.

Basically, I've got nothing to add to this thread.

I think Paramount should destroy all existing copies of "The Godfather III" and remake the film with an entirely new screenplay. If they hurry up they can still get Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Robert Duvall and Francis Ford Coppola. Of course this isn't gonna happen but I wouldn't discount the chances for a Godfather IV at some desperate point.
What Movie should be remade?
I think most remakes should not be made.  However I think a bad movie that "Could Of Been Great" should be remade.  I love the book "Bonfire of the Vanities" I HATED THE MOVIE.  The book would make a great mini series that only HBO could do right.  The movie that starred Tom Hanks took so much out of the book and change the plot too much that a remake would not look anything like the orginal.   What movie do you think should be remade?
