What movies do you think...
...deserve a Criterion DVD/Blu Ray release?

I personally would like to see Reservoir Dogs, Terminator 2 (I know T2 is a strange pick and The Godfather.

What about you guys? What films do you guys think should get the Criterion treatment?

I'd love to see them do more Korean films. I'd love to see Oldboy get a Criterion treatment.

-A Bittersweet Life
-Sopyonje
-Peppermint Candy
-Oldboy

I would also love for them to pick up more Kieslowski movies. Most particularly the Dekalog: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092337/

Is there really anything that Criterion could bring to Oldboy that the other releases don't have?

True, Tartan has covered features well, which is why its highly unlikely. But I still have yet to see a great transfer of it.

The existing transfer is fine. That's how it's supposed to look.

I can buy that. I never saw it theatrically so I have little reference, but if that is the case then I'm just sad that a movie so exquisitely filmed was shot on poor film stock. Guess I'll have to get over it.

The existing BD transfer is closer to how Park and his DP wanted it. The revised DVD versions look 'better' in so much as they're closer to how you'd expect it to look, but at the cost of artistic intent (all the greens, the contrast tweaking etc).
