Im going to say Yellow Submarine only because it was released in 1999, but it was discontinued the following year. It is extremely rare so we need a re-release of this great cartoon movie.

well I have a boot of the holiday special and I would like an offical release because the picture is only ok
Howard the Duck is missing for a reason. If GL can erase Sebastian Shaw he can certainly see to it that HTD never sees the light of a DVD ray. Actually that's all bollox. GL still rates HTD. I read that he once said that in 100 years, if you looked back at say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and HTD and asked which one you thought was the more successful film at the time, you'd say HTD because it's the better made film. From a technical/filmaking standpoint. Based on that, despite its obvious failings at the box office, Id say Lucas still has a soft spot for it.

The Holiday Special on the other hand is tonk. 'Yes' I hear you cry 'but it's the nostalgia of it. The complet...' NO! It's garbage. You can see it on youtube if you're so inclined. I was for a while but couldn't get through 2 minutes of the thing. It's dire and the powers that be are doing humanity a favour keeping this twaddle where it belongs. Unseen and unheard.

Stubby wrote: Other releases announced for Sept 11 include
Tales From The Crypt (1973)
Vault of Horror (1872)
Mephisto Waltz (1971)

I've been anxiously awaiting those for a while now and glad their finally coming out. Fox has even resurrected MGM's 'Midnite Movies' lineup for this year with a few lost gems thrown in that collection too, such as the first R1 release of Witchfinder General and Food of the Gods. I just love when September rolls around and some of these old horror favorites come out of the woodwork. Hopefully we'll have some hi-res artwork to post before too long.
Some long awaited movies in the works according to DigitalBits Classic Coming Attractions:
"The Weinstein Company has confirmed that it will be releasing the four long-desired Samuel Bronston films on DVD as part of its new "Miriam Collection" of past and current classic titles presented in new special editions. El Cid will be the first to appear with 55 Days at Peking, Circus World, and Fall of the Roman Empire following. There are still no specific dates, but it sounds as though El Cid at least will appear this year."
Other releases announced for Sept 11 include
Tales From The Crypt (1973)
Vault of Horror (1872)
Mephisto Waltz (1971)
The Earth Dies Screaming (1964)
Gorilla At Large (1954)
Curse of the Fly (1965)

More TV seasons of Dynasty, Murphy Brown, Knight Court
Yes cheddar but it must be a at least a 2 disc! Twin Peaks yes! Although not too happy about the cover art tvshows on dvd posted yesterday! As for the above I mentioned yesterday I have most of them on video but the picture quality, sound etc is awful to say the least! Hearts Of Darkness brilliant but painful to watch! After hearing Donner's experience working with Brando on Superman "today I see Jor El as a bagel" Why did Coppola use Brando? and Hopper was not in the best of shape either! Sad
Well, if Alliance Atlantis were smart (note I said IF), they'd release it then. A shameless cash in, but a warranted one.
The African Queen cool.  I saw the News on Twin Peaks  TV show but not the movie Fire Walk with Me
stanton heck wrote: well until I have them in my hand

Of course, I understand what you mean. I wouldn't expect Lost Highway until at least this time next year. And Stanton, did you see the news about the Twin Peaks set?

And Darth, The African Queen is supposedly in the works. Fingers crossed.
the squeeze -  stacey keach
hearts of darkness
Hitler the last days - Alec Guinness
Animalympics
African Queen R1 and an SE!

WarGames needs a decent release. Only childhood favourite that I don't own.
Ya wanna know what's missing on DVD Gabe? - MY BLOODY TRAILERS!!
I love 'em, and TOO many discs are missing 'em nowadays...

Oh, I'd also like to see Byron ("War of the Worlds"Wink Haskin's "Captain Sindbad" (yes, spelling is correct) released, as I haven't seen it since years, and loved it as a kid.  Happy
well until I have them in my hand

Lost Highway IS coming soon apparently, and I would expect FWWM with the giganto Twin Peaks set supposedly coming out this fall/winter.

Yep...
Fire & Ice is available???

whoops, my bad, I must have missed that one.
I guess I will be going out to look for it tonight to buy then.

You can get Hellraiser III on Region 2 from Anchor Bay plus it's the full uncut version.
Flower Drumg Song
The Pirates of Penzance
The Promise (1978)
Lost Horizon (musical)
MAME
The Bionic Woman
Maude
Dark Shadows movies (according to Warner chat, 2007 release)
Pufnstuf (I know cheezy, but Mama Cass's song is worth it)
The Julie Andrews Hour (all 24 episodes)

I can also think of a ton of films that deserve a special edition that would include remastering.
Adrian wrote: This Island Earth (I know it was available once, but no longer)
Hellraiser III (I'm a completionist)
The Amazon Queen

Hellraiser III can be found occassionally at K-Mart.  I got my copy of Hell on Earth there for $4.99.  It's a Lion's Gate release.  It may be out of print as of a few years ago, but I just got it within the last year.
They don't associate films with real life, they just see it for what it is just a movie.

Bey Logan once said that when the Japanese watch a movie say like Pearl Harbour they don’t think bloody hell that’s what we were like, unlike say Germany when it’s about the Nazis, the Japanese just think it’s a movie.

The Japanese do acknowledge that the war did happen but they don’t acknowledge the atrocities that they commited during WWII.
I wonder how Japan got away with a movie like Battle Royale?
Godzilla movies, the unaltered Japanese versions (at least in Region 1 they are.)

I wish someone would put out Battle Royale in Region 1 as well.
There's also a good chance it will come back in to print.  Anchor Bay seems almost as bad as Disney for these kind of tricks.  Be aware that the 1979 is letterboxed and not anamorphic (at least according to the specs.)
The 1979 Herzog/Kinski Nosferatu from Anchor Bay is out-of-print at this time, but if you look around you can find the two-disc edition for a fair price and the single disc edition fairly cheap. If it's the two-disc you want, you'll probably pay a little higher than if it were still in production, but it usually doesn't fetch a prohibitively high asking price either.
Arellium wrote: Nosferatu (was this released on DVD?)

Not sure which one you are talking about, but both the 1922 Silent Film and the 1969 Kinski remake are available on DVD.  You want to be careful with the 1922 version as there are several (I believe it is public domain).  I would go with the Image release of it.  I have it and it is pretty good.
Nosferatu (was this released on DVD?)

Where's Anchor Bay when you need them?
Here's an embarassing admittance for a geek...I've never actually seen Brisco County Jr., and I'm so anxious for it's arrival because I want ot see it for the first time. I was in High School when it came out, and was all punk rock, anti corporate TV and s**t. I've grown out of it.
Adrian wrote: The Amazon Queen

Ugh....brain freeze there.  Of course, I meant The African Queen.

And if we are talking TV, why is Family Ties not out?

Also, I wish they would put out the remaining seasons of Mad About You, but that seems unlikely.  They produced a "best of" after the first two seasons which seems to indicate they didn't sell very well.
The Adventures of Brisco Country Jr. should be saddling up sometime this summer from WHV, Gabe...I'm anxiously awaiting this one myself.

Yes on Sifl and Olli, no on Jack of all Trades (but yes on Brisco County Jr), and for Spaced I say "Buy a multi Region player, it's totally worth it, and due to music rights issues there is a VERY slim chance of Spaced ever seeing a R1 release."

This Island Earth was one of those movies that Image licensed the rights to from Universal back in the late '90s to put out on DVD. A number of those have been re-issued by Universal in the past couple of years, such as They Live, Dracula (1979), and several others. There are still quite a few others that haven't been properly re-issued though, such as Flash Gordon, but keep watching the skies as it's hard to tell if/when Universal will decide to release it.
i think a  remastered special edition of peter jacksons braindead and badtaste would be really awesome, with behind the scenes footage, documentarys and commentaries

can't think of too much anymore... but I would say that I'm waiting patiently for the Blade Runner DC
What's missing on DVD?
What are we still missing on DVD? This includes all Regions.

I'd like to see a release of Neil Jordan's The Butcher Boy, and the documentary behind the making of Apocalypse Now, Heart of Darkness.

I'm also going to say Blade Runner, because the current DVD is s**t, and I happen to like the theatrical cut.
