"The Medusa Touch" -

Remastered special edition of this wonderful, severly underappreciated, 70's telekinesis thriller. A top cast in great form with Richard Burton delivering a barnstorming performance.



"Belcebu" -

Spanish exploitation, with a tag line like 'Take me - I am your w***e from hell' it can't be all bad!

"The Substitute" - Treat Williams brings some semi-automatic discipline to the classroom.

"The Stone Merchant" - Can't find it?  Not been able to see it?  Perhaps not even heard of it?
Even though it's a cracking thriller that stars Harvey Keitel and F. Murray Abraham?

Well perhaps that's because this film DOES NOT call Americans scum, Jews criminals, The West evil or hail political Islam as a noble thing of progress, peace and love.
All things that of course ensured this film was murdered at birth.  
Seek it out, annoy the Islamist fanboys and catch another fine slice of Keitel doing his thing along with some well staged action and astute political observation.

Actually, it turned out to be more like 72 minutes, but still...
Also, it's a David Lynch film that flows like some kind of nightmare in which nothing is quite what it seems, so i think he might have had a hard time deciding what should go into the film. It's definitely a masterpiece though.

Retro TV heaven and olde time Brit comedy haul!  Even "The Love Butcher", "Deep Throat", "Suspiria" loving Dave likes a change now and again!

Thanks to the magic of public domain titles and Ebay dupes I finally have some old childhood, 70's, TV memories in the complete series shapes of:

"Here Come the Double Deckers" -
This did actually make it over to America in the 70's.  
A gang of kids with thier own red double decker bus hideout!  
Starred a 16 year old Peter Firth who would of course go on to the likes of "Equus" with Richard Burton, "The Hunt for Red October" with Sean Connery and Tobe Hooper's "Lifeforce" with a lot of tits and zombies.

"The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe" -
A french series taken up by the BBC in the late 60's and which played well into the 70's.  Wonderfully done with a haunting main theme.

"The Banana Splits" -
Americans of a certain age will remember this too!  A wils n wacky slice of late 60's weirdness indeed!  With the antics of said Banana Splits (guys in REALLY wacky hippie dog-type suits) being split up with cartoons like "The Arabian Knights", "The Four Musketeers" and the Jan Michael Vincent shrunken people show "Danger Island".  ANOTHER classic theme song of course.


And 19 (count 'em!!) George Formby movies!  It's not hip to like his films any more, but before and during WW2 he was perhaps Britain number one film star and entertainer.  
He often entertained the troops in fact.
Silly, old fashioned, slapatick humour and comedy songs (some very cheeky and suggestive for the time!) but they still entertain if you're not a snob.  
And at a time when what was once Great Britain is being blown up and eroded away, and what's left mutated into something very sad and rather bad, a bit of nostalgia is perhaps the only haven we have left.Retro TV heaven and olde time Brit comedy haul!
