Why?
Why did they cancel the special edition of My Big Fat Greek Wedding? I was holding off on the first release because I heard of this.

I loved it. Too bad now. I was looking forward to the soundtrack that I never got to get.
Interest in that movie dropped off the face of the earth about 6 months after the DVD release. That coupled with the poor response to the tv series probably didnt help.
I never did like the show. Thought it was dodgy.
The TV show was awful. I didn't even make it through the first episode. But the movie was pretty good. It did make me sick that it was as big a hit as it was, but it was still good to see an art house movie get wide into the public consciousness.
I'd say it was because all the seemed to be offering that was new was a CD of wedding songs. Not a particularly attractive special feature. There's a commentary on the current release. How much other bonus features really exist for an independent movie that was a surprise hit?
Go for the R2 version...
