Dear God, why?...

Well, all I can say is that I hope they don't re-make the movie, but rather, do something based off of the book. Then they at least have a chance of making a different--and thus, actually worth-being-made film.

There was talk of a remake three or four years ago, I doubt it'll happen - given the rights issues.
