G'day Keith,
I'm in R4, and we didn't get the 3-discer here, just the 2-disc that -- far as I can tell -- is identical to your 2-disc set.
Do you reckon the third disc is worth going for ? I was curious especially to see the earlier silent-movie version of the story on that 3rd disc -- what did you think about it ? Worth seeing ?
Just wanted to hear your thoughts, mate.

I sure liked the set. Although, the canadian version gets screwed out of the 1933 cartoon inexplicably.
Definately get it if your a fan, you not only get the extra disc, but all those extra print materials too.

I should get it sometime... behind on a lot of dvd releases lately.

I enjoyed the 3rd disc which included the history of Mr. Baum very much. It went into much detail and lasted about 28 min. The other material (except the cartoon) I was not interested in, perhaps because I'm not from that age. The cartoon was enjoyable to see. I use to see similar cartoons from that era when I was a child and enjoyed them. I'm glad I got the 3 disc set for the history of L. Frank Baum alone.

Without a doubt, this set is one of the best DVD releases ever. A gorgeous transfer and more background material than you could ever expect.
You know MGM released a great Laserdisc set in 1994. There were lots of great stuff on that laserdisc set. I was so mad that hurricane Katriana ruined my home and this laserdisc set was lost because of it. However it was the first thing I re-bought. The New 3 disc DVD set has much most of the stuff on the laserdisc set however I still will never part with the laserdisc.
I've yet to watch this set, but I picked it up for £9 or so in a sale so it was a steal - I love the publicity/premiere material you get with it. Looking forward to actually watching the discs.

The restored movie was fabulous. Very vivid, more colorful and sharper that what I had before. They did a great job. I understand they had the original print to work with this time.
I was just wondering how you folks liked the set? I haven't found any easter eggs. Not that I expected more from this set, but they are fun to find and was expecting to find some. That doesn't mean that there aren't any! :D
