I wish I hadn't bothered wasting my money buying the third film. As previously mentioned the scene at the end of the credits basically undoes everything...

The two major characters that lose their powers will probably get them back, Prof X can be played by a new actor, did anyone actually see a body for Phoenix's first victim? and if you read the comics you'll learn that Dark Phoenix wasn't actually Jean Grey anyway...

What a crock...!!!

(I don't think that I gave any specific spoilers away there but if I did can someone cover them up for me..)
In past post on the subject of X 3 I've said that I hoped Ratner would surprise us with a good film and that we should give him a chance. I thought this because I believed he did an ok job with Red Dragon, given the fact that he'd mainly just done videos and Rush Hour movies. Listening to him on the behind the scenes docs on Red Dragon also led me to believe that he was at least putting some thought in to the process.

However, have seen the finished version of X 3 and his behaviour and general attitude on the set of the film, my opinion has shifted. I was wrong to back this horse. He does indeed appear to be a fat loudmouth who, at best, managed to get the quota of set-ups shot each day. What a hero to Fox he must be. He must be first in line for AvP2 or Predator 3.

The film is very 'on the surface' and has no real repeat viewing value.
Glad to see my 6-disc trilogy came with the comik book
For me what sums it up is the following. X-Men 3 delivered exactly what I was expecting. I knew it was going to be a flawed movie when you looked at it's production history. Superman failed to deliver what I expected. I was expecting an excellent movie that I had every intention of buying on DVD. Instead what I saw was a good movie that was enjoyable once but I did not feel a need to buy on DVD. Although it has many good points it was at times I felt a very turgid film
I thought Fox pushed X-Men 3 into production too soon.   They just wanted a summer tent pole film to bring in cash in theaters and on DVD.  I liked the film, but it isn't as good as teh first two.  It even got me thinking how I could come up with a better plot for the next X-Men film (it is easy to do given the cast of characters and storylines from the comics).
I think Ratner is getting an unfair amount of the blame. That's not to say he's blameless but other people such as script writers and studio execs (and to a limited extent, Bryan Singer himself) all share some of the blame. I also feel that Singer would not neccessarily have saved the day (although it would have been better to some extent). After seeing Superman Returns I thought it was highly overrated. I'm not saying the film was rubbish but there were areas where I felt it was severely lacking. It was certainly made with much more care and thought than X-Men 3 but whether or not that extra effort paid off is open for debate as far as I'm concerned.
Sure he did...
Ah, comon', Ratner did a great job!
No, they just take back one more thing that happened in the film. Basically by the end of the credits the entire film has been negated with the exception of two character deaths, one of which has never stayed dead long in the comics.

So, yes, Singer could reshoot the entire film, and it wouldn't matter.
What, Bryan Singer shows up and promises to re-shot the film?
I don't know if it's been mentioned earlier... In fact this might be comon knowledge. But for you who didn't stay for the whole duration of the end titles; there's a little scene after them that brings a little hope to the story. Check it out if you haven't already.
The R3 Korea version is probably the best one to get.  There is a version with a limited metal case which is slightly more expensive than the digipack version, and it includes the bonus disc that was mysteriously omitted from the R1 release (probably so they can double dip later on).  There is also an R3 Korea version that includes the comic.

Name your price Happy

Damn I didn't press "quote"

Blonde!
The R3 is two-discs and has the comic.
I have a question too. Why is is that the barebones is listed for release one week (3rd Oct.) before the Collector's Edition (10th Oct.)? Strange.

That's a Target exclusive. 2 things I need to inform you. First, the normal CE is 1 disc, not 2. Secondly, the CE just comes with a brand new Stan Lee X-Men comic and cooler packaging, that's about it. Someone on here posted pics of the CE a while back...should be here somewhere.
My question is this:

What's it worth? Wink
Oh come onnnnnn!

DVDworldusa.com definetly post weeks early. Though you do have to pay extra for the privilege!

Who else does...tell me tell me tell me tell me! :D
That's just crazy talk.
I had my De Lorean before you. I used it to go back in time and get it before I got it.
I got mine 2 years ago.  WITH MY TIME MACHINE!  THIS FRIGGIN DELOREAN ROCKS!
There is no single disc edition in the UK, but my comment was intended to poke fun at the pissing contest aspect of this thread.
Of course you get them first Chris. You guys have to review the damn disc for us who might buy it anyway, right? But are you talking about the Collector's Edition? Because some distributors only send the single disc editions of movies before they get the 2 Disc set. For example, United 93 single disc edition was the only edition that got delivered to my specialist DVD store in Sydney. There are many other titles like this where the 2 Disc sets/ Limited Edition of movies don't get delivered until the week of release. Has anyone ever encountered this situation, where you got to a DVD store to find only the single disc edition available and the 2 Disc not yet released until the week after.
*hehe* Wink
I get them before any of you, so nah.
As you might remember I got mine more than a week ago (September 21st) so I got it first. Wink (and I live in Sweden!)  I made some scans of all the artwork for the R1 Collector's Edition in another thread. I'm still going to have to wait for the 2-disc edition to be released as I actually have to wait for the street date for the swedish release (October 4th). Is that not funny? That I can get the R1 release before people that live in the US can get it, but I have to wait for the street date for the R2 release? Wink
I've only purchaed one DVD early (Adventures of Superman: seasons 3 and 4), when Wal-Mart put it out 4 days early. It was the only time I've seen them do it.

I liked X-men 3 more than the first movie but not as much as X2. I considered buying the Collector's Edition but I'm going to wait for the 2 disc SE instead.

Lucky ass.

Sometimes the Wal*Mart in my area puts out the shippers holding new release DVD's on the sales floor so they can clean the warehouse......when they do this, I rip open the top of the box and buy it early.....sneaky....sneaky
So does my Wal*Mart, although it's usually c**ppy flicks, like "Stick It" or "Stay Alive", since I've been there.
Mal
Certain online retailers (I know of at least two) tend to ship titles weeks before their release date. We rely on them when we have to cover big titles but I probably shouldn't mention them in case they get into hot water about it. Wink

The way things are going, we could probably have a region 1 DVD reviewed by someone located in the UK before a major studio thinks about sending out the review material.

Mark Lim wrote: I beat you Tony. I got mine on Monday afternoon (while you guys were sleeping). Got the Collector's Edition. O.K. extras. R4 has more. I did not enjoy the movie as much as the other two. I was even surprised to find "Fast & The Furious - Tokyo Drift" three weeks before the Region 1 release date! This is one of those rare incident. I'm told that warehouses/ distributors fill the orders of retailers before they even fill customer orders. That is why retailers have new release DVD's officially one to two weeks before the release dates. International retailers use specialist couriers, so that is why I get the discs earlier from this store, compared to buying online, and yet we buy from the same company - DVDpacific(used to). Difference is that I get them two weeks after the release date.
So now I save money on interests and fees, by paying CASH. Yay!
Actually, my store could have got DVD's on Saturday, if there were customs officers working on weekends at the airport!
Almost finished watching it, yeah, definately not as good as the other two, but I think that this was a great closer to what could be the last X-Men film (aside from "Magneto" and "Wolverine" coming up.

I didn't want anyone to ask but I'll answer anyway...

I can't help but feel like you want someone to ask you how you already have it, so I will....

Don't you own it a bit early?
X-Men 3 DVD
Bought it today, and when I put it in my computer to watch it, it was under Stratford Bridge, yet to watch it though. Does anyone know what it stands for in the movie?
