I have a brand new Multizone Blu Ray Disc Player on the way. Just waiting for my supplier to release a new model. It is not made by one of the major brands. It is made locally in Australia. In times like these, you need to support jobs in your country, not buy products that are made elsewhere, especially China!!

I also bought Quantum of Solace, also region locked. I'll be watching both in a few weeks anyway, so bought both QOS and Passengers to keep for later.

Mark, what brand is the Blu-Ray player that you are buying here? How have they made it region free?
Never like any product from China to be honest, although I must say that they have pretty delicious food lol.

So, here are the list since my last update...

Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition

I clearly need self-control indeed!

Worst Nightmare wrote: I went through 4 of those!!! It took about 6 phone calls for the US company to send it out to me properly in Australia (that is pack it so it wouldn't break).

Everytime I had to ship it back, they would credit me the shipping costs. I always seemed to get back a bit more than what it cost me to ship - due to a weird way they were calculating the exchange rate - and eventually I was credited back the price of the disc as well....

Yeah, well that kinda sucks...

Too bad you know some of these companies have never heard of 'bubble wrap' before 'Wink

I ordered Firefly: The Complete Series, but it won't get here for a while.
I got a player for Christmas with the following movies: 2001: a Space Odyssey, Dark Knight, Kill Bill (both volumes), and Wall-E. Also just bought Eagle Eye and Firefly. Will be buying the Grindhouse movies as soon as I can.
I got my Dark Knight Bluray steelbook delivered on Christmas eve, that was a lovely present. The one with the burning bat logo on it, not the batpod.

So two versions of The Dark Knight for you BoBoi? There musn't be a recession going on down under Wink

Oh I got the Glass LE one so it could easily crack during shipping. My Schindler's List LE broke during shipping before so yeah it's good this one didn't.

The Dark Knight: Glass BatPod (German)

Absolutely love it!

Otherwise, my signature should work.
I got The Dark Knight yesterday. I can't wait to watch it. I already have the digital copy on iTunes.
Thought you guys should know, Warner Bros. has announced some old catalog titles in production for release on Blu in April....

Quote:
Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring 10 of their most popular catalog titles to Blu-ray on April 7th. These titles include 'The Wedding Singer: Totally Awesome Edition', 'American History X', 'Final Destination', 'Point of No Return', 'Taking Lives: Extended Cut', 'Tango & Cash', '2010: The Year We Made Contact', 'Above the Law', 'John Q ', and 'Collateral Damage'.

The majority of the titles will come on BD-25s, with the only known exception being 'American History X', which will come on a BD-50. Extras are also mostly unknown, though we do know the follow information:
Received today...

The Dark Knight: 2-Disc + Digital Copy
The Dark Knight: Limited Edition with Batpod
Made of Honor

The BatPod looks great, tested the disc and the IMAX scenes are incredible. I had doubts about the shifting rations, but turns out it doesn't bother you at all. The timing and the way they managed to do it is exceptional, very well done in this respect!
Bought today - Eagle Eye and The Women. As I predicted, both arrived two weeks early. Also saw Burn After Reading, GhostTown and The Duchess in store but will get them another time.

Here is a nice pic of my beautiful purchases today. I'm now finding it strange to hear that I can get some of January releases before Christmas.

I have just found a new Blu Ray website/Forum  that is way cool!!! You not only get news, but get to chat with other Blu Ray lovers and you get your own Blu Ray Collection built into your profile. Nice!!!

www.blu-ray.com
Don't own a Blu Ray player. So I don't have a collection of Blue Ray disks, just DVD's. Happy I could contribute to the discussion...hehe
Received today...

WANTED: Limited Edition
The Shawshank Redemption

I'm happy that WANTED arrived in mint condition!
I got a player today, it came with three free movies:

I, Robot
Kingdom of Heaven
The Devil Wears Prada (that's gonna be my sister's)
Here's mine. It's small, but growing.  I don't think I replace many DVDs with BDs, but just start buying BDs from now on.
Picked Up "Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor" (US) and "Mamma Mia" (US)
Just got...

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (US)
The Incredible Hulk (US)
I know. Sony and Pioneer always give away s**t movies with their Blu Ray Disc and DVD Players, when they first come out. But Transformers here is an only exception, which me and my brother enjoyed very much.

Oh and if any of you fans overseas who want info on New Blu Ray Titles as to whether they are region free or region locked, feel free to ask me here. My store gets new releases one to two weeks in advance and can check straight away. Just found out today that the new film "Traitor" from Overture is Region Locked.

The Patriot
Starship Troopers: Marauder
Transformers 2 Disc SE

i feel bad for your brother winning those titles on blu ray ;-)
It's pretty tricky to spot unless you're stood near to the TV or have a massive screen. Of course it could be that the encode on the Jap disc is better, which you'd hope is the case.
๋Just tested that scene with Lucille and Marv in Kevin's basement. I can't see anything out of ordinary with the wall...
Michael Friedrichsen wrote: How can you watch Wall:E US edition it is region locked, so is prince caspian? My blu-ray player is region free, it says so in my signature as well. Wink
When you watch Sin City, take a look at the scene where Lucille is in Kevin's basement. DO the walls behind her seem to pulse and move? The Canadian BD has i-frame pulsing in this scene.
Just Received these today...

Japanese BD

T2: Steelbook
Sin City (Terrific disc IMO)

US BD

SATC: The Movie
The Strangers
Yup. It is so easy to import it, and the last time I checked, he bought a Sony Playstation 3 from Japan, I think.
He has a region A BD player?

Will probably get The Dark Knight US BD sometime this week. Hopefully, that is...

Might get Wanted and Hancock...

Hi

How can you watch Wall:E US edition it is region lockesd so is prince caspian?
There's absolutely no way that's every BD released since 2006. I did a quick check and stopped after five that aren't on there.
Chris is right. Blu Rays ARE NOT DVD's. It's still a disc though, but completely different technology.

As for how many Blu Ray Discs have been released so far, you can check here....EVERY Blu Ray Disc that has been released since 2006 and are dated as well.....
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/releasedates_hi...

None. Blu-rays aren't DVDs (completely different technology), and the initialisation is BD, not BR.

As for how many there are, haven't got a clue. Sorry.
Can anyone tell me approximately how many br-dvds there are currently?
Just to give you New Yorkers a heads up... there's various small dvd retailers now stocking the Dark Knight on Blu-ray.

I picked up a copy tonight Happy

Disciple wrote: May i ask why you got the 3-disc Wall-E BoBoi? The digital copy doesn't work outside of the US.
Got it for the Slip Cover really (matched other Pixar BD), and it's the same price with the 2-Discer on Amazon anyway, so it's all good lol.

jmcclane 88 wrote: Don't know whether to buy all Blu or mix with dvds. Decisions decisions!!!
I'd say only get SD when it's not available on BD really. There are a lot of great films out there that didn't get HD treatment, Snow Angels as the most recent example.
I'm still lightly dipping my toe into the Bluray pool at the moment, you guys seem to be saying "come on in the waters lovely" Happy

Currently have

Batman Begins
Bone Collecter
Casino Royale Deluxe Edition
Close Encounters
Incredible Hulk
Indiana Jones: KOTCS BD Steelbook
Iron Man BD Steelbook
Spider-Man 3
Terminator:Sarah Connor Chronicles 1

Will soon be adding The Dark Knight for sure. Don't know whether to buy all Blu or mix with dvds. Decisions decisions!!!

May i ask why you got the 3-disc Wall-E BoBoi? The digital copy doesn't work outside of the US.
Just received these recently...

JP BD

Sleeping Beauty: 2-Disc Platinum
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Asian BD

Good Luck Chuck (Sony Dist.)

The rest are US BD...

Wall-E: 3-Disc
Southland Tales
Awake
Trans-Siberian
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
Jerry MaGuire
The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor arrives next week (for me, anyway). Sweet!!
Well, there's a problem with dialogue being lower than the rest of the sound on the Swedish BD, which has DTS HD Master Audio 7.1. Hopefully, there won't be a problem with the Japanese disc. Also, that one has the original theatrical poster artwork on the cover, something that's always positive.

I'm still not done with collecting DVD's and BDs for Prince Caspian though. Wink
My eyes filtered that out. Still though, lot of money for what are essentially the same things.
Cos he's the owner of the biggest narnia collection in the world
Okay, I have to ask, why would you buy two versions of Prince Caspian?
Ok, sounds like a better idea...

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (Swedish release, DTS HD MA 7.1)
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (Japanese release Dolby TrueHD 7.1)
Wall-E (2-disc)(US release)

Will probably get The Dark Knight US BD sometime this week. Hopefully, that is...

Might get Wanted and Hancock...
O.K. Then, what about the new ones you just bought? Add Them here.
Well it would be an awfully long thread if everyone listed their entire collections of BDs. I know there are members on here with several hundred titles, some probably have close to a thousand.

Just a thought.

Here's my collection: http://www.blu-ray.com/community/collection.php...
