Not very proud to say 'The Sweetest Thing' lol
mine was the emperors new groove!!! HAHAHA!!!!
Criterion Robocop and South Park: BL&U were the first. After that I think it was The Matrix and The Spy Who Shagged Me. I went for region one from the start, but I bought The Matrix and TSWSM in the UK because it was two for £30 in Virgin stores at the time. I soon regretted it when I found out one was cut and the other was missing a hidden feature.
Mine was The Patriot with Gibson in it. It was cool.
Contact - Jodie Foster when DVD was new in like '96
My first DVD was Ronin, then The Matrix but that wouldn't load on my first player so I had to get a new player to watch it. This is one of the reasons I probably won't get into HD formats early...

So you had it on DVD the year before it was made? Impressive.

Remember it like it was yesterday - Eraser.

Double Take and See Spot Run (I know, laugh it up, you'll be rolling on the floor when I tell you that I still watch these movies).
Psycho - Hitchcock
The Witches of Eastwick- I wanted to see it in the WIDESCREEN format for years

Our friends bought us that the other day when they went home to Italy. Only Italian DVD I have, and it's not bad.

In The Line of Fire. It had NOTHING on it, not even a proper menu. It cost me $45. I was hooked

Really? I hate that movie so much. I did my best to pretend I liked it as to not offend the people I was watching it with.
My first DVD was Taxi Driver. My mom gave it to me with my first DVD player as a Birthday gift in college.

That's pretty funny. Mine were The Matrix and Austin Powers 2.
More importantly tho, the first DVD I really felt was up to the level that the DVD format was made for was Fight Club. Still impresses me to this day.

I don't remember that version of The Matrix.
Mine was the Starship Troopers flipper, which looked amazing on my PC when I first tried it.

Mission impossible 2 for some reason was the first for me ,I really don`t know why as it worse than the first 1 but I made a mends by getting the then brand new 2 disk special edition of Seven HMMM
Don't worry. You're not alone with MI2. I too inexplicably bought this DVD (at a sale price I hasten to add) even though I disliked the film. I was more interested in the Special features on the disc (which were more interesting than the film) and the Ben Stiller 'Being Tom Crooze' bit.

I think I wanted the dvd for the metallica video

Not a Metallica fan but it is a great video.
It's a shame as there are a lot of good things on the DVD.
My feeling on the film is that the parts (the action/stunts) are greater than the whole. The work done by the production/stunt crew is amazing when viewed in isloation on the featurettes. It's just when you see the work within the context of the film I personally just start yawning and looking at my watch. If the human characters are invincible, how can the audience be involved in the outcome of the many fights?
