I bought a region-free JVC player from www.220-electronics.com four years ago. It's been pretty reliable.
How's the video and audio?
Oppo make some decent region free, up-scaling, standards-converting DVD players, but you need to have the kit to work with them (HDTV).
Thanks for your suggestions, people.

Personally, I think they're fine, but I'm no expert on such things. I went with a JVC because my previous player was a JVC that I owned for 5 years, and was pretty reliable until it choked on a couple of discs. The newer player handled both of the discs in question with no problem.

Import one from Australia - just check that it is a multi-voltage unit...

Anyway, yes. Does anyone have any suggestions for a code-free DVD player, or a link to a site that would have good ones? Thanks.
EDIT: So...that's a big "no," on that one, then?
