How about a blu-ray player works as a dvd player? You can free download Macgo Blu-ray Player as a dvd player. http://www.macblurayplayer.com/
Import one from Australia - just check that it is a multi-voltage unit...

Personally, I think they're fine, but I'm no expert on such things.  I went with a JVC because my previous player was a JVC that I owned for 5 years, and was pretty reliable until it choked on a couple of discs.  The newer player handled both of the discs in question with no problem.
Thanks for your suggestions, people.
Oppo make some decent region free, up-scaling, standards-converting DVD players, but you need to have the kit to work with them (HDTV).
How's the video and audio?
I bought a region-free JVC player from www.220-electronics.com four years ago.  It's been pretty reliable.
'Ey. I'm planning on saving for a code-free DVD player, so that for once I can get a good release of a foreign movie. One special feature for a movie that got a two-disc release in Spain, my ass. I was talking about Rec there.

Anyway, yes. Does anyone have any suggestions for a code-free DVD player, or a link to a site that would have good ones? Thanks.

EDIT: So...that's a big "no," on that one, then?
