It's a NTSC / PAL thing. I presume the TV was sourced locally? PS2 is outputting as NTSC (since it's American), whilst the TV will be expecting PAL. Look through your PS2's menus to see if theres a NTSC/PAL option, it might not be there though.
Other option is to check the TV's options, many modern European TVs accept PAL, SECAM and NTSC, so have a look on the TV's menu options to see if there's a way to switch the input type. If you can, set it to auto so you don't have to keep changing it if/when you use local equipment.

Yeah, the television is sourced here in Germany. But, will check that out and see what I can do! Thanks again!

I just moved from the US to Germany and have purchased a power adapter for my PS2 to get plugged into the German power outlets. After getting it, I got home, hooked everything on, and plugged the power in and it worked! Only, I got no color in my television screen now! I tried to see if I could fix it by calibrating the tv screen but it wasn't that. I checked the connections from my PS2 to the TV but still not that. Was wondering if I'm not getting color because of the adapter? Can anyone help me with this issue??
Really appreciate it! THANKS!!
