Biography
I've been into film since I was 9, well, officially maybe 6 but at 9 I took an interest into behind the scenes. Jurassic Park was one of those movies that stuck with me when I was little I guess since I was 6 and it had awesome dinosaurs, my first movie ever was Fantasia though. I saw it while I was still in a baby rocker (at least that's what my mom says). I guess that explains my obsession with film scores. Hans Zimmer is my inspiration, and Sergio Leone is my favorite director. If it weren't for Hans Zimmer then I probably would have gone into a field dealing with zoology, but it was his music that made me love movies. When I saw The Rock starring Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery I was instantly captivated by the music. I had it on cassette and it was all I listened to. Now I own every single Hans Zimmer CD available as well as those of the composers that he trained at his studio.
Sergio Leone is my favorite director because it's his style that most closely matches my own (very long shots that have incredible visual depth). I own a GL2 with all the trimmings and I'm not afraid to use it. I have a ginormous DVD collection that's 400+ in number and a pretty decent home theater in which I enjoy them.
I write movie reviews for fun and have been maintaining a website for about 3 years now as well as being a regular writer for Movieweb.com and DVDivas.net. You will also find my reviews on Amazon.com. Film is pretty much a part of me, and I try to be as much a part of it. So, what makes a good movie? In my opinion, it has to be both artistic and entertaining. If it's not artistic then the movie is a mindless piece of crud that insults your intelligence, and if it's not entertaining then it will bore you to death.
