I hope they re release The Lion King. It's impossible to find.I'll pass on this one.
Are you guys serious?
Does that little star (Disney Rewards) really bother you that much?
If so, you can always send me the code from inside!
I have a 3 year old daughter who would love to have her point value increase!
Just email it to me!
Thanks!

Oh... no cropped widescreen transfer. Good stuff!
Wow, that artwork is good. I haven't gotten any Disney dvds so far, but this one is the one that will change that. I have always had a place in my heart for this one. The live action ones were just a bad joke. This is the real deal.
Just saw artwork at 4:07:11PM.

Great stuff but - I gotta get this one as I don't have the other one.....

This one is worth a double dip.
It would be absolutely amazing if Disney released a box set similar to the one that MGM is releasing, with all of their animated (and maybe even live-action) films that were given a theatrical release. That way the real fans could forget about the straight-to-video/dvd releases. Oh, it should have all the short films too. I'm getting myself really excited.
Oh, remember when Disney was still good? When they actually hired talented voice actors to do their animated films instead of lining up every A-list jerk-off they could think of?
Although, I hear Enchanted is pretty good.
In any case, I love these platinum editions. I just watched the Jungle Book the other night, and the new sound mix was mind-bogglingly good.
I'm kind of puzzled about Sleeping Beauty being the next one up for platinum - the 2 disc version they put out a few years ago is still one of the best animated DVD releases in my collection. Great extras, phenomenal transfer, cool packaging - I seriously doubt if they'll do anything other than re-package that release with some new artwork. And that's too bad, because, as others have already pointed out, there are plenty of other old Disney titles needing a better release.

Great cover art!
Lookin' forward to this release.

I wish they'd redo The Black Cauldron on DVD. The current one's... OK, but the non-anamorphic transfer and kinda lackluster 5.1 track kills it.
I never bought the DVD of it. I'd watch a c**ppy VHS over a c**ppy DVD any day. at least the c**ppy VHS has a nostalgic childhood feeling to it, where the DVD can just seem like a waste.

You just named my 2 all time favorite Disney films. My others being The Black Cauldron, The Rescuers, and Oliver & Company. I always liked the less popular ones for some reason. But Pete's Dragon is such an amazing movie. I'd actually forgotten about it. I may have to go watch it soon.

Yeah, I love Basil The Great Mouse Detective - bring on a SE of that. Some DTV sequels would be nice too; it is one of the few Disney stories that would support further episodes, seeing as it is basically Disney's version of Sherlock Holmes.

Classic Disney, & one of the best. A definitive must buy.
I do agree with all the unnecessary extra stuff that they pack in with the 2nd disc of the Platinum Editions... I griped about this when it came to Jungle book.. I found the music video actually decreased the value of the package not enhanced it... I'm 35 this year I'm sure I was taken to see the movie when I was 5, 11 and 17 respectively since I love the film.
I dont know of anyone that was alive the last time that they released the film that knows who the Jonas Brothers or whomever they are or could care... Probally a cheap Disney signed band that they're trying to promote for some reason... I said this and I'll say it again, I buy the platinum ed's for the movies, not for utter JUNK...

Sleeping Beauty was never a Platinum Series DVD, even though you did get the release date right.

Erm, I believe it's Snow White that's being given the Platinum treatment again. Sleeping Beauty was Platinum in Oct. 2003 if memory serves me well.
All in all, I just want them to finally (re)release Fantasia as a part of the Platinum collection. Great Mouse Detective deserves an SE agreed. 101 Dalmatians was one of the first movies I ever owned (the other being The Little Mermaid), so it has a special place in my heart and I will probably pick this up.

The best Disney classic special edition was TOY STORY: 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION, because of the fact that it was made by Pixar.
One of my all time favorite Disney films. I just love dogs and dalmations were a favorite too. I just may have to get this. Can't wait for the artwork.

Definately going to pick this up! I've been waiting a long time for them to release them on platinum edition. I hope that instead of Disney re-releasing some of the other platinum editions that are out of print, they'll release some other stuff that needs SE treatment.
I want them to release Pinocchio, too. Maybe in 2009, as the only other Platinum Edition coming out next year other than this is Sleeping Beauty in October.
I love this movie. I'll be going about my day and I'll get random scenes from this running through my head. Not sure why. Probably becuase I watched this one a lot growing up and then had to watch it half a bazillion times more after my younger sister was born.

Hurray! When does Pinocchio get the same treatment?
OHHH YES!!!!!
I've been waiting for this for years. It's about time. Now if they would only get around to doing Pinocchio.

Cant wait for the artwork. Not Disneys finest piece of film but certaintly a classic.
Yay! Another Disney classic I must update on my collection. I agree with whoever hates the newly recorded songs, they do nothing for me.
All together now: Creulla DeVil, Cruella DeVil if she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will...

Lol. The best (and by best I mean worst) one is the "Wanna Be Like You" from the Jungle Book release just recently. The cover song is as bland as Katie Couric (or even better, as bland as that simile)

This is the Disney release I have been waiting for! Want it now!!!
I know the Disney films are mainly for kids but some 'proper' extras wouldn't go amiss. Something in-depth, illuminating and anecdotal about the making of the film.
