Wow, didn't see this coming. One of must own DVD. For once I have to applaud the creative team on the artwork. Much better than the previous release of Henry Fonda's pic on the cover.

Terrific cover design.
Very creative artwork, a definate buy for me, one of my all-time favorite movies!!!
This is some of the coolest cover art I've ever seen. Great color scheme, simple design, symmetrical...bravo.
long over-due, for a 50th anniversary edition this is pretty weak, it's still too bad the criterion collection could not give this the royal treatment to this gem. There laser disc is probably superior to this one. Well, you can't get everything you want....grateful even for this...
Nice. I'm there. For some reason, I've delayed picking this up -well here's my chance. And what great artwork - damn, that's terrific.
Great artwork.
After seeing the great Before the Devil Knows you're Dead, I've been needing some more classic Lumet...

Always a great watch.
Yeah it's all rather fairytale in it's simplicity and sugared coating and cliche characters who all handily have something big in their personal lives to be used to turn them.
And the dreamy big eyed shots of the sad boy on trial are blatant in their manipulation.
But as a straight ahead piece of entertainment from an exceptional ensemble cast it's hard to beat.
And it's simple no thrills set-up makes for great drama, expertly crafted.
The final scene is an absolute gem as well.
not much for a 50th anniversary release though. No comm track?

I'm extremely happy about this one! In my third year of college, we watched this in 'Discussion' and were required to write a paper about the various methods of conversation and discussion throughout the film. I purchased the old 'Vintage Classics' version on DVD that winter but now I'm definitely trading that in and picking up this one when it arrives!
BTW, the only cast member from this film still living is Jack Klugman.

Blimey. Scary stuff. So strange to think that that entire era of actors that I grew up watching will soon be no more.
When Kirk Douglas dies it could be the foretelling of the apocalypse to come!

Nice and simple artwork love it.Hope there is special edition soon of the Lost Weekend it needs it.
One of the best films ever made! I'm there for sure! No commentary from Lumet?
Excellent cover!
