I picked up the R4 of this great film with Commentary, Documentary, Theatrical trailer, Production Notes, Cast and Filmakers Notes and the Archive as an easter egg. It Comes with 1:85:1 DD5.1. Picked it up for around $16.00 AU.
Curious as to what archive is.

What a great, GREAT film!
I was blown away when I saw this at the cinema years ago. After reading this, I went to pre-order it immediately (the making of documentary is indeed superb, perhaps one of the best ever made). Got it for £9.99, yay!
hmmmm

i'm not sure, but this sounds like Die Hard 3
bout 12 monkeys, i could see myself picken this up after i do sum research about the other copies available

Just seen this little bit of info about the Dune Special Edition DVD on Digital Bits
The Dune: Extended Edition will be released in a metal snap case (SRP $27.98). 2 versions of the film will be included...
a 137-minute theatrical version, and the 177-minute extended edition.
BOTH will be available in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen (which would mark the first time the extended edition was available in widescreen).
The theatrical edition will feature both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio,
while the extended edition will be Dolby Digital 5.1 only.
Extras will include never before seen "behind-the-scenes" footage,
documentaries on the special effects,
visual design and costumes,
deleted scenes,
original photographs and artwork from the set (newly resurrected from personal collections) and more.
How cool is this going to be!!!

A nice cover, but the tagline contradicts itself.
Yet it makes perfect sense in the context of the movie. :D

Well........
Another great movie that begins with numbers rereleased. How about 1492: Conquest Of Paradise being released in Special Edition, that movie isn't even on DVD.
I love 12 Monkeys, amazing film, but when is enough, enough. It's time Hollywood starts looking into giving films like 1492 and others not put on DVD their rightful place on the DVD shelves.

For those of you waiting until the HD-DVD comes out, be careful. You may get burned. BLURAY is also coming out, and it has STRONG support from Sony, Disney, and MAYBE even FOX.
I'll wait until the format war ends before I upgrade to the new format. Until then, I'm just going to buy the "must have" movies on DVD, and wait on the others.

I have the "Signature Collection/Director's Deluxe Editon" laser disc, three disc set, 1997.
I compaired the specs from my copy. It kinda looks like they reissued the LD on DVD. "The Hamster Factor And Other Tales Of Twelve Monkeys" is eighty-seven minute documentary. Lets hope for the best.

Who's the guy on the right?
Why is Mark Wahlberg on the cover? On the right. Didn't know he was in it
Great film, cr*p re-release. 'nuff said.
I want this movie but none of the versions out there have satisfied me. This one looks like it won't either.
I don't want to convert to HD-DVD when it first comes out but this is one reason to switch if the HD-DVD version of this movie is any good. It'll be good quality I'm sure but I'm wondering if the first wave of HD-DVDs will be barebones.

The original 2 are Out Of Print. Even tho there was supposed to be a 2-Disc SE,I guess they changed their mind, and went with a Rerelease of the same OOP DVD.
Oh yeah this one. I didn't see the end though.
Its probably just being reissued like Apollo 13. I would just wait for the HD-DVD if I was going to invest in the tech anyhow.
If this does not feature an improved image, I too will wait for the HD-DVD release.
What is this "12 Monkeys Archives" feature, is it the posters and stuff? Maybe they'll let us listen to the commentary until the end this time...
Sounds like a warehouse clearence edition
I think I'll wait for the HD-DVD edition due this fall. If you haven't seen the documentary that accompanies this release, I highly recommend a rental. It's as good as the film itself.
there's already two region 1 versions out there - one with commentary from gilliam, and the other that has dts instead. looks like a re-release of the original non-dts version with nothing new.
What I Wonder
Why a redux?
