Premiering on television in November 2001, “24” set a new standard for prime time intensity, making use of its unique real-time element following characters throughout an entire day, and introduced audiences to Counter Terrorism Unit agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), a man who will stop at nothing protect his colleagues, his family and his country.
Season One of this precedent-setting television series began as Agent Bauer is informed of a threat against U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert; “The Unit”) on the day of the California Primary. As Bauer attempts to unravel the mystery and ensure the safety of Senator Palmer, new conspiracies begin to emerge that threaten CTU, the country and his family. With incredible supporting performances from Elisha Cuthbert (The Girl Next Door, Captivity), Carlos Bernard (“10.5: Apocalypse”), Leslie Hope (Dragonfly), Sarah Clarke (Happy Endings), Eric Balfour (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and Mia Kirshner (“The L Word”) as well as cameos from Lou Diamond Phillips (“Numb3rs,” Young Guns) and Dennis Hopper (Speed, Hoosiers), this will truly be a day that none of them will ever forget!
Synopsis:
The clock is ticking…Midnight. Jack Bauer, head of the CIA’s Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit, is suddenly thrust into a chaotic and exhausting 24-hour marathon of death, deception and terror as he struggles to prevent the assassination of a presidential candidate, find the traitor within his own organization, and save his kidnapped wife and daughter.

Can someone at DVD Active confirm/deny that May 19th is the Region 2 release date?
Scratch that, it's been confirmed.

Depending how much it is... I might pick it up since the 1st season rocked.
When TV shows are filmed, I would say 9 times out of 10, they film more content than needed. Hence, the post production process is important to get the episodes down to 40-45 minutes before it hits air.
and how do they "extend" an episode that is in theory only meant to go for an hour? I always thought I needed 26 hours in a day...
(Just thinking of the slight play on words and yes I know they have a shorter run time due to ad breaks)

If I'm going to double-dip I want more than that. Only 2 commentaries on the special edition DVD of Season 1 while seasons 4, 5 & 6 include 12 commentaries each? Ĺšeasons 2 & 3 include 6 commentaries each, it's the least they could have done for this boxset. This DVD would have been an ideal way to get actors like Carlos Bernard, Dennis Haysbert & Sarah Clarke to make a commentary track.
I want more commentaries and 'The Genesis of 24' documentary better be good.

Season 1 deserves a double dip, as it was so original and brilliant, and the previous package (despite having great menus) was pretty barren in terms of extras, which failed to reflect the worth of the first season.
Oooohh a tin.
I've bought all the season sets so far, and I'm DEFINITELY getting this one. After having a somewhat lacking first season DVD set, I'm glad that they wised up and gave it the treatment it was finally due.
Here's hoping they finally give us the original exploding plane scene from the pilot.

One of the best tv shows ever. Season 1 was really lacking special features. So this double dip is a must buy for me.
If you can't afford it, simply don't buy it. If you don't want to double dip or don't care about extras, then don't buy it. This was obviously made for fans of the show who wanted more from season 1.
I love extras and I hated the fact that the season 1 set essentially bare bones. This is one of the few movies/TV sets that really needed an upgrade.

Quote: Now we are getting Double Dipped on TV Sets? Im beginning to think that i need to start waiting 5 years before i can buy any sort of new release!!
No, they are only doing this because Season 1 dvd of 24 had no extras
Also im wondering why they put a season 7 trailer, aren't they goign to make a whole new season 7 for January 2009 because of the strike?

I'm a massive 24 fan, have all the Season Boxsets. But I will buy this on the day Satan skates to work. I paid too much originally to have my pockets picked again. Though the dollar is pretty weak at the moment, NOOOO, MUST.......RESIST...BUYING.
Double dip needed. I'll be gettin' this too.
this is the only season I own and like bondfool said it is a needed double dip.
I can't wait to get those "Special Introductory Letters". Yummy. Yummy. They should be fantastic! Maybe they'll even have some xeroxed signatures! I -- just -- can't -- wait for this very yummy edition.
Actually, we do need one. The first set had virtually NO EXTRAS, as it was rushed to be put out before season 2 premiered.
Jack Bauer called and said, "America, F**k yeah!!!"
Definitely a double dip we don't need.

I am so getting this. I wonder if they put chapter selections on the episodes this time. Looking forward to hearing Stephen Hopkins commentaries and the Genesis of 24 documentary.
I notice in the press relase they saying the sound is only Dolby Surround.... So, no Dolby Digital then?
I do hope a BluRay release follows.........
