The increasing squeezing out of special features on DVD and putting almost all of them on the Blu-ray release of films is really starting to annoy me.

Careful, J Linc. The Blu-ray cult members will come out of the woodwork and try to convince you to upgrade. Don't drink the Kool-aid...

Great movie. JGL might just be the best of his generation. He can handle the darkest and the lightest of movies with total ease. The dance sequence was the best part
Definitely buying this on Blu!!!! One of my favorites from this summer. Shame that I didn't get to pay to see it, but caught it at an advanced screening a few weeks before release.

Careful, J Linc. The Blu-ray cult members will come out of the woodwork and try to convince you to upgrade. Don't drink the Kool-aid...Yeah, gee, don't feed your love of movies by getting the next advancement in home video technology, because you'd be playing into a consumerist trap.
I'm sure they said the same thing about DVD, and they had laserdisc to cite as well. By Christmas there will no doubt be several perfectly good players in the $150 range, and there pretty much isn't a disc out there you can't get for between $15 and $7 (most about $10) on Amazon Marketplace. I don't want to badger you into upgrading by naming statistics and garbage, so those are the facts. If you don't want to upgrade, to each their own, but the studios aren't going to act differently.

FINALLY! Will get it on Blu-ray for sure! I don't have a Blu-ray player yet but I'm buying one soon. As for the film, it's one of the very best of the year. I loved it! Saw it twice in theaters. This will be the perfect Christmas gift. If I don't get it for Christmas I'll buy it myself, but my friends know how much I loved it so I'm guessing someone will get it for me. And I'll probably buy it for them in return since they loved it too.
Perfect release date. Will get it on Blu-Ray for sure.
Count me among those also pissed about special features getting moved to Blu Ray releases and DVD getting the barebones version. I know I'll upgrade to Blu within the next year, but damnit there's no reason not to include the featurettes on DVDs!
Heard mixed things. Will rent.
Thought this would be an annoying hipster romance, but I actually quite enjoyed it. Will buy.
And please don't turn this thread into another dvd/blu-ray debate.

I love love loved this movie, but I am depressed that the DVD won't be getting all of those extras. :/

Hard to believe. This film was liked by many, and I mean a lot, both critics and audiences alike. I haven't heard not one single person that has had any bad opinions about it. Word of mouth carries this movie to high levels, from my perspective this was the Better Films this Year. The Academy Awards will now have 10 movies up for "Best Picture" contenders, this will certainly held a spot.

Oh come on stop the whining, DVD is so last year. It literally turned the corner by now. No excuse for people to complain that Blu-ray is over expensive, because at this rate the players are going from $169 to $199 range.

lee09, I too believe this will be one of the ten films nominated for Best Picture. I hope anyway. There's an excellent chance. Fox Searchlight could easily push it there by campaigning for it, but I believe they'll be busy campaigning more for others, like Amelia. Still, it is beloved by critics and a DVD release around voting time can't hurt.

So far this and The Hurt Locker look like possible contenders @ the Oscar's this year. I don't think there has been many films this year, that touch "Oscar" ground. The Cove (documentary) is bound to get a nod in Best Documentary.

Excellent film. I saw this twice in the theaters and loved every minutes of it. Probably my favorite film of the year so far, definitely will pick up the Blu-ray. JGL was absolutely great in this, Zooey Deschanel was adorable as always. Now, they just don't make it like this anymore, this is to me like Annie Hall of the Twitter age (yeah, it has a lot of references to Annie Hall).
AWESOME! It is inexcusable for the DVD release to only have an audio commentary as a bonus feature, but I am really looking forward to owning this fantastic film! One of the best of 2009!
Just to dwell on what I said about the fact that this had a lot of references to Annie Hall (among my favorites of all-time). The relationship between the two main characters are very similar, but I do feel though that Summer was pretty mean and a lot meaner than Annie, I mean at least Annie tries to be nice. Well, at least that's how I feel.
WTF, Why can't stupid FOX (and more-so, stupid Warner Bros) put more features on the DVD. I mean, they were able to do it for Wolverine!
The second time I watched it I found Summer less mean. She doesn't really try to be mean. The only thing I wish was that the first half of the movie had been his point of view and the second would have been seen from hers. It was a little too one-sided. I still absolutely loved the film though. I thought both of the leads were great, but I'll admit to being more taken with Zooey's performance. She's such a terrific actress. I was so excited the other night when a "Cotton" commercial with her came on. She's a talented singer as well. I love her voice. "She & Him" are great. Ok, yeah, I think it's official, I'm in love with Zooey
.
Best romance film of the Summer, if not the year. Everyones in love with Zooey. lol
@Jersey Jedi - great reference. "I killed a man with a trident."

Oh Zooey, everytime I think of her a goofy smile appears on my face. Such a gorgeous lady, and a fantastic singer. Definitely looking forward to getting this one.
