Universal Home Video has announced a Blu-ray release of 8 Mile which stars Eminem, Kim Basinger, and Mekhi Phifer. The disc will be available to own from the 18th November, and should retail at around $29.98. The film will be presented in 1080p widescreen, along with an English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. As far as we know, the only extra material will be a Making of 8 Mile featurette, the Superman music video, and uncensored rap battles. Stay tuned for the official package artwork.

Actually looking forward to this... Should be a decent sound demo disc with all the rap battles going on etc etc... DTS HD all the way!
Good movie. Never got around to getting the standard DVD, so this is a buy for me. We haven't seen what Eminem can do outside of basically playing himself, but most people can't even do that.
8 Mile? Where the hell is my King Kong on Blu!???
Anyways 8 Mile is a good film, I can imagine how great it will sound in DTS-MA 5.1, considering the regular dvd has a great DTS track. But Universal should consider releasing the missing titles from HD DVD line, and they include: King Kong, Atonement, Hot Fuzz, Children of Men (specially) atleast those are the titles I want.

if they do King Kong, even though I have the HD DVD of teh regular cut, if the Blu is the EE, then I will own both HD DVD and Blu-ray of it. As for 8 Mile, I'll definitely nab it. I just hope it's the unrated cut.

Who would have thought a white rapper from Detroit would end up being a alright actor. Plus he comes out with his best song "Lose Yourself." This movie is fantastic for the final 20 min alone.

Yup yup, Ive discussed this in other site forums. I can totally see King Kong (theatrical and extended) in 1 (one) 50gb disc, the extended only has 13 min of footage. So it fits just fine, same thing with Spiderman 2 and American Gangster on Blu-ray.
