UGH!
I wonder what the unrated is like.
The first one was awful. I would be really surprised if the sequel turns out to be better somehow. Although I'll never know b/c I have absolutely no interest in watching this.
It cant be true, It cant be true.
I just had a horrible dream!

Wow, a sequel to an already worthless movie. Hollywood needs to be rebooted.
Talk about unnecessary. Are studio's really so desperate for hand over fist in money they'll make DTV sequels to anything in their recent vaults?
It's sickening!

sequel not needed!
wtf... this is for real?! :/
Well, Hollywood is convinced that we will buy anything. So, whats new?
This is just, ugh, no words to describe this...
dear god.
You have GOT to be kidding me. A sequel to a movie that even the WRITER disowned because Schumacher screwed it all up? Folks, read the original "8MM" script as found in a book with the "Se7en" screenplay. Andrew Kevin Walker gives you a complete rundown of why he doesn't like the finished version of this movie.
But a sequel? What next? Tom finds another loop and goes a-huntin'?
Forgive me. I haven't slept...

It's about time. Now I can stop writing Sony daily.
Wow. Nick Cage must really be desperate for money now...

It's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that Nic Cage will star in DIRECT-TO-VIDEO sequel. I know that he has appeared in some clunkers (his upcoming Lord of War looks terrible to me), but his career has not gone to toilet such as Wesley Snipes, JC Van Damme, and Steven Seagal. Not yet, anyway.
I'm guessing some B-list actor who needs to pay his mortgage will star in the sequel.
EDIT 2: It stars Johnathon Schaech, who's probably best known as husband of Christina Applegate. He's not even B-level star. More like C-level "star" to me. Mea culpa. And the film looks like soft core porn based on its cover. Mmmmm, soft core porn....[/HomerJSimpson]
PROOF

Isn't this the kind of project where they should be going for a "we wish we were catchy/cool/hip" title like "16mm"?
hmmm - what is it this time, a snuff video of Barney the Dinosaur?

Sounds dubious!
Nothing up with "8MM", it just became so trendy to trash it.
What I liked about it was Machine.
No abusive parents, no' seeing Sister shagging the dog', no knocks on the head, no being caught masturbating by Mummy....he just killed because he wanted to. He liked it. And that was all the reason he needed. Much more effective.
As was the finale with Gandolfini and YES it did revel in what it condemns...But hey, all the best exploitation always has! LOL!

RUN AWAY! RUN FAR AWAY!
If I close my eyes hard enough, will this whole 8mm thing just go away?!

The other unfortunate fact is that they'll probably make money on it--which just continues the cycle.

The first one was awful! Why? I ask again. Why?

Not that bad.
It wasn't awful, but it could have been much better. Joaquin was cool in this movie and it was really creepy in some scenes. The acting was pretty good as well. Maybe it's just because I've always been fascinated by the concept of snuff; it really freaks me out.
Some of these sequels don't start out as sequels. They just show a resemblance to a movie so a studio slaps a known title to create a little more appeal.
This was the case of American Psycho 2.
I'd imagine this was bought by the studio for this purpose.

It probably isn't even an actual sequel. It's probably a bad movie that got made cause someone was shagging someone in the movie industry and the story closely resembled 8mm so they stuck it out as a sequel.
The first one flopped. Surely flops don't get sequels?

The plot for 8MM2 sounds like this will be a very cheesy and fun sequel to watch.
Lord of War..
I have to say.. the trailers for Lord of War don't do the film any justice. It's an almost impossible film to market. I saw a sneak preview screening last week and it's one of the best character studies I've seen all year. Cage is at his finest.. and the issues the film raises are so insightful I felt dumbfounded in regards to the marketing of this film. It's going to need great word of mouth the get past how it 'looks' right now.. but trust me on this.. it deserves it.
???
Why have two versions if it's straight to video? Just put out the "unrated" and call it the regular release version. $$$?
