Quote: A Christmas Story, a nostalgic view of Christmastime in Indiana during the 1940s, stars Peter Billingsley as Ralphie, a nine-year-old who has only one thing on his Christmas list: a Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Air Rifle. With his parents unwilling to buy him the gun because he might “shoot his eye out,” Ralphie decides to mount a full-scale, hint-dropping, Santa-begging campaign. He also endures a slew of calamities from snowsuit paralysis to the dreaded tongue-on-a-frozen-flagpole gambit. The New York Times calls A Christmas Story, “maybe the best Christmas movie ever.”

C'mon roadogg who doesn't watch this film on TNT 24 hours on chritmas.
it's a classic.
So well this be the first Blu-Ray that get's a re-release special edition?

I love this movie, I really do, but to be honest I probably wouldn't watch this movie 11 months out of the year. TNT's nonstop marathon is more than enough for me. I don't think I have actually sat down and watched this straight through from beginning to end in over a decade. I hate to say it, but I'll pass.
I'll definitely get this, because I don't own it yet and its a freakin' great movie.
First I Am Legend, then 300, now... A Christmas Story? These ridiculous box sets are awesome and all, but how about choosing some movies that actually deserve this treatment. A Christmas Story is a good film, I just don't think it really deserves this type of set. It seems like films are now getting what only TV shows' complete series would get.
"you will shoot your eye out kid"
Classic Christmas Movie...to bad the sequel My Summer Story sucked balls.

So, what's the point of this double dip?? I doubt I'll replace my DVD, but why will others replace their bluray?? It sounds exactly the same minus the packaging.
Hopefully it's been remastered.
From HD Digest:-
Quote: A Christmas Story' was first issued on Blu-ray and HD DVD back in late 2006 as a relatively bare bones edition. Reaction to the release was generally mixed, however, with most fans and critics giving the disc's video, audio, and supplements average marks. (Our own Peter Bracke gave the disc an overall grade of only three stars out of five...)

Same here...I'll stick to flicking the TV on during the TNT annual marathon.

Good thing im a fan!!!
Good thing im a fan!!!
this doesnt seem like the sorta movie that would have a lot if anything cut for broadcast but that's an incentive to buy it...no edited, pan and scanned, commercial filled version.
and that leg stand blu-ray sounds interesting...can't wait to see a picture of that one.

An essential holiday movie. I've seen this so many times...TBS plays this every Christmas day, all day.
Blu buy for me.
I love this film, but, the 2 disc that came out a while back ago is still enough to enjoy for me, so, I won't buy this version. I'm pleased with what I got.
I hope it's remastered
That ends speculation as to what my father is getting for Christmas. He loves this movie as do I.
Artwork added
That art is AMAZING! That is so mine when it comes out!
WOW!! I can't wait to buy this set. I never bought the pan and scan version when it came out and for some reason I never bought the 2 disc (widescreen) version either. I guess it's fate! This is a must-have!!
I love it! Great release!
"Fa-ra-ra-ra-raaaaa! Ra-ra-ra-raaaaa!" A timeless classic definitely worthy of buying! It'd be hilarious if they could market it with a slip cover marked "Fra-geee-laaaayyyy"!
I love artwork, yup I will be buying this
Nice tin and cookie cut outs.
Even better than expected. Dad is so getting this for Christmas.
is this any different than the existing special edition?
Wow- that's what I call a tops special edition! Pity I found the movie a bit average....
