I thought this movie was okay. A bit slow at some points and I am not sure if it helped it. Not something I would buy or see again, but I know a lot of people did like it. Viggo was pretty good though, just different since I have only seen him in LOTR before this.
I really want to see The Reflective Skin now, it's suppose to really showcase Viggo's abilities. It's only available in R2 I think. This was a great film, and Viggo gets my pic as best actor, though I guess I haven't seen that many movies this year. People always say they've only seen himn in the LOTR movies, forgetting he w3as in The Prophecy as Satan.
DTS, that's awesome! I just bought the new edition of The Fly, and you gotta love Cronenberg with DTS.
Loved the movie and it's a definite buy for me. Surprised this isn't a New Line Platinum Series. I wish they'd have gone with the poster art, but I suppose they want Viggo front and center. I'm not a fan of the current art.
This film should have been marketed better. It was a highlight among a number of trashy pre-holiday releases. Viggo Mortensen is one of the best actors appearing in film today. A definite purchase for me.
One of the best movies of the year - 2nd only to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang...my humble opinion of course. I'll be picking this one up.
I don't get all the high praises for this movie. It was okay, but nothing very special.
Wasn't a fan of this one. I would recommend renting this one first before blind buying. Personally I see no reason to see this again.
I'll add it to my Netflix list and check it out. Seems to be a heavy drama, don't know how often I'd watch it.
Aswome Movie!
Excellent movie with excellent direction and a Grade A performance by Ed Harris.
The artwork, on the other hand, is too... normal looking. Once again, another example of excellent theatrical art and lacking DVD art.

Hmm...surprised they didn't go with an Unrated version on this. Surprised and wary...
didnt like this movie at all. Yeah some good acting, but nothing special.
I Loved this movie. I will definitely buy it when it is released in the UK.
I hope they change the cover art though. The poster with the gun in the foreground and Viggo looking down at it was great. They should use that.

A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE (2005)
This was a good film. Decent but it did have it problems. I too am surprised that New Line did not give this the Platinum Series treatment, they gave it to DOMINO and other new releases. A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE was a intresting film but it seemed like they never really answered some of the probing questions they brought up. I thought that the ending was great, very fitting, even though a lot of people hated it. Its not one of Davis Croenberg's best films but it sure is an intresting one. I am again surprised that we did not see a Director's Cut or an Unrated Edition because there were some graphic sex scenes, one a near rape.... but I am intrested in hearing Croenberg's commentary on that scene.
It looked okay but I don't like that cover.
This film was great.
I don't like the cover very much though,
but the Cronenberg commentary and DTS is enough for me to get it the first day.

I'm sure that with a director of Cronenberg's stature at the helm that the film that was presented in theatres is the director's cut, so an unrated cut or whatever isn't necessary.
i hope theres a special editon coming out later next year.
who like s my sig?

Horrible cover, especially with sublime poster art. This almost looks like a family comedy.
The cover art is pretty crushing... I also expected a New Line Platinum release. Well, I was actually dreaming of a Criterion release right out of the gate... but yeah.
THEY SHOULD HAVE USED ONE OF THESE
Missed this one, wanna catch it one DVD. A solid rent, but don't know if I'll buy....& the artwork is aweful!
The original poster art was so much more creative.
Looks terrible, artwork is terrible, what else is there to say?
one of the best movies i've seen all year. too bad I was one of 9 people to catch it in the theater.
artwork is TERRIBLE though. hope they change it.

Agreed.

Not quite. I was number 10--and my sister-in-law was number 11 after we talked.
She loved it, too.

Unfortunately, so true.

their faces on the cover make them look dazed and so out of it! Horrid cover, I would have wanted the poster...
Dammit. Personally I think the cover is very good and I didn't like the poster art at all, but I guess I'm the only one.

That's all I needed to hear to make up my mind on a purchase.
