I haven't bothered freshjim... had a look at it in HMV though. Unbelievably thin packaging considering the amount of discs. I revisited my R1 DVD boxset with the Encylopedia and couldn't justify the cash with X-Men: First Class and Batman: Arkham City on my wish list!
Anyone notice the awful sync issue on elm street one in this box set! so annoying
or am i the only one?
BDs are more scratch resistant than DVDs and, so far in my experience, do not appear to be prone to the dreaded "disc rot" as has happened with several of my DVDs (Sleepy Hollow being a recent one I discovered, forcing me to buy it again on BD).
As I said previously, if I'm buying BDs then I'd prefer for the extras to be on that format regardless of how much space they use? It just adds a bit of quality/value to the package in my eyes whereas a DVD does exactly the opposite, especially as I consider it to be an cheap, inferior format. It's not like other BD movies haven't shipped with a BD full of SD extras.
It annoyed me somewhat when the Lord of the Rings extended editions were released with NINE DVDs full of extras which would easily have fitted onto THREE BDs. I wonder how long it'll be before those and the NOES extras disc start to rot...

I have to repeat the question - what difference does it make if the content is SD? There is literally no advantage to having a BD if the extras will fit on a DVD. In fact it's actually an advantage to have them on DVD if you don't have a BD player in the bedroom/in the PC and fancy watching the extras on that.
The disappointment comes from not expecting a DVD at all but for the special features on the fifth disc to have been presented in HD. I don't know about anyone else but if I buy a BD boxset then I'd prefer it if all the discs were actually BDs even if the content on them is SD. This is supposed to be an upgrade after all.
Why is it disappointing that SD extras are presented on a DVD? There's no benefit to having them on BD.
I got my boxset today from HMV and disappointingly the fifth disc, strangely numbered '8' (?!?), is a DVD not a BD. Otherwise the package is unexceptional and nowhere near as nice as the 7-disc DVD set which came with a booklet (this one doesn't).
Still, it's the contents of the discs that matter, right? Off to watch the first movie now (I suspect the disc is identical to the one already released).

I might double dip this one ya know... and yeah if those extras are correct i've already got all of them apart from the new ones on the US DVD collection from years ago but it'd just be nice to have the films in HD tbh. Plus, I own the Never Sleep Again documentary (and got the sign Heather poster with it too!). Like BouncyX i'm a completist but i do already own Freddy vs Jason BR anyway and the NOES remake (also on BR).
There's no reason to have any new extras now that we have the Never Sleep Again documentary.

This site has more info, but it's unconfirmed as to whether it's all on the UK set as it's not in the press release (would seem odd if we got a different release to the rest of the world though):

so it looks like they just took most of the encyclopedia disc footage and placed it accordingly for each movie. funny thing is they are following the same error as the 1999 set did by placing the Fat Boys video with Part 5 when it was in fact made during and for Part 4. lol
if it included Freddy Vs. Jason i might consider trying to get it but i'm a lame completist so i cant. though i'm sure this is more or less what will be included on the individual releases in north america once they start releasing the rest. as the 2/3 disc seems to have the same things as the north american release.

Agreed richy i'm in two minds about this boxset aswell. It would be nice to have them all in HD but ive got the US DVD boxset from years ago with the Encyclopedia and those extras just don't seem worth it. I can't remember if they're repeats or new or a mixture of both but there certainly seems less than what i've already got!
And Wilson Bros... why not post about it? I'm sure other folks are feeling the same. It's general discussion forum... case in point!

Another example of Blu Ray box-art butchery. Will be nice to see it all in HD though.
This *should* be the cover, if they gave a flip about fans anyway - http://www.wrongsideoftheart.com/wp-content/gal...

The Japanese set will also have a new documentary called "Fear Himself: The Life & Crimes of Freddy Krueger". I don't see why the UK set would be different.
Hmmm. If I find myself in extra money I'll have to get this. There doesn't seem to be any plan to do a full series release in the US any time soon.

Because, part of me enjoyed these films, many years ago...
I watched them all, fairly recently, (Not all in one sitting) and they have aged quite badly. But we all know that, already!?
Do I need another box, to take up more room? Would I watch them again, after buying them?
I'll just wait till I'm really bored, and they're really cheap!

wonder why they didnt include the 8th movie. but outside the mtv thing and the tv show episodes, those extras seem to be stuff from the 1999 encyclopedia disk so thats too bad.
but considering the north american release of Part 2/3 did the same, not too big a surprise. i imagine if they ever make a new collection for north america, it'll just be the individual releases shoved in a lame box. i think the 1999 box set was the first and last time the series will ever be collected and treated properly.
