The runtime is listed as being 92 minutes if that's any use!

The previous cut was very minor, so it would be impossible to tell from that. It's a blood splash that's missing. It was present on the initial UK releases, but subsequent releases use the trimmed US version. Nothing major, but quite jarring if you're used to seeing the big splash.
Not sures there's anything here that'll entice me though, as I already have the boxed set. I guess it would make a nice comparison article, but apart from that...

No, not gonna do it, I have the box set, too. I just can not bring myself to double dip for it.
Hey, Universal... where is my Psycho I-IV box set?!?!?

They'll probably be owned by Sony eventually.
I thought New Line had all but stopped releasing films onto their Infifilm discs... I own the boxed set but I think I might have to get it... DD EX is a nice add-on and I'll be interested to see how well they cleaned it up from the last release. LOVE the artwork. I wish studios would do more "abstract-ish" cover art for DVDs like this one here! Oooooh! Someone's getting excited!!!!
Great cover but I've got the box set already.
Wasn't this release going to include a DTS 6.1 ES track as well? Mi Casa Multimedia (the company responsible for mastering the audio to all of New Line Cinema's films for DVD) reported that they were remastering the audio "in 6.1, 5.1 and 2.0" for the new release of ANOES.
And I hope "feature-length audio essays" is just a fancy term for audio commentaries. I heard Wes Craven did a new one for this new DVD release, as well as Robert Englund. And it also seems apparent that the old commentary (which featured Craven, actors John Saxon and Heather Langenkamp, and director of photography Jacques Haitkin) will be ported over to the Infinifilm release.
And I'm surprised that this film is the only one being given the Infinifilm treatment -- what about "Wes Craven's New Nightmare"? That was as equally brilliant as the first film, and equally deserving of a SE.

Why can't he make good horror pics like this anymore. Elm Street gave us one of the most iconic horror figures in film history. Now all we get from Craven is Red Eye and Cursed, yuck.

Totally agreed. "New Nightmare" was the only one I saw in the theater because I was old enough when it came out. (Actually I think I was 8 or something,) But I remember seeing it in the theater and loving it. I'd say the films would have to be rated highest-to-lowest in the following:
1. A Nightmare on Elm Street
2. Wes Craven's New Nightmare
3. Nightmare 2: Freddy's Revenge
4. Nightmare 3: Dream Warriors
5. Nightmare 5: The Dream Child
6. Nightmare 4: The Dream Master
7. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. (Talk about one of the WORST movies ever made.)

First of all, even Wes himself admits that "Cursed" was a terrible movie that was thrown together at the last minute, but "Red Eye" was VERY enthralling. "Red Eye" was so different than the other films on his resume and I thought he did a fantastic job! But "Nightmare" will be the film he's remembered for. He needs to come back and do an old school-type horror film again, a-la "Nightmare" or "The Hills Have Eyes".
Actually, he should just make a film called "The Last House on the Left in the Hills Where Nightmares are Born and Screams are Heard."

This is exactly what I have been waiting for. I love this film, but I hate all the others. I cannot wait to pick this one up.

Actually, I liked Cursed better than Red Eye.
I don't know if I'll get this, but it sounds like a good upgrade, especially with Infinifilm.

I don't know if this looks like a justified double dip for me, and Wes Craven has begun to annoy me more and more--first by making a whole ton of mediocre to awful movies (I like about 3-4 of his films...) and then by whining about being "pigeonholed" as a director...when he's not an incredibly great one. Bleh.
The original is great, but Freddy was never scarier than he was in NOES 2: Freddy's Revenge.
Even with the homoerotic undertones (which actually added another level to the story), it was a much darker film.

uuuuhm... is this gonna be the new DD5.1 track? and do you think New Line will be releasing other Nightmare movies in InfiniFilm editions?

Hmm. I guess New Line doesn't want to give their Freddy movies the DTS treatment, yet almost all of New Line's "Friday the 13th" movies have been given both Dolby 5.1 and DTS tracks.
Anyway, I'll pick this release up along with "Freddy vs. Jason" -- they make a good double feature. (Yes, FvsJ wasn't nearly as good as ANOES or F13th Part VI, but it's fun nevertheless.)

I just remembered that the NOES Box set has a feature-length documentary on the first film.
And it's not being included because....?

ANMOES is the only film in the series i`d like to own, and since I don`t have it yet, I`ll pick up this edition. That cover is superb.
A bit unecessary, no? Considering the box set already out is incredible, I think I will pass on this one.
Am I the only 1 that thinks the cover just reeks "Generic photoshop"? considering most of the IviniFilm DVDs kept the original poster art.
I actuallly picked up the Box set a few years ago only to take it back to the used DVD place because I felt I overdosed on NOES. Besides, they aren't all worth owning. I will pick this up even if Infinifilm discs are a ***** to manuever around.
The coverart really sucks, and the image of Freddy is from FvsJ - not NOES part1, and the didn't use the original font but instead this c**ppy generic one?

Which technically doesn‘t exist, as Dolby is matrixed and is not true 6.1.

I already own the box set but I think I'll get this one too. The new transfer should be nice and the cover art is freakin' fantastic! I love it! Just gorgeous!
And I enjoyed both CURSED and RED EYE. CURSED was a blast! Sure it's kind of cheesy but it was a very fun popcorn flick that I had a great time watching when I saw it in theaters. Not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. RED EYE was a solid thriller with a very good performance from the lovely Rachel McAdams.

I thought Dolby Digital EX was in 6.1.... so why all the confusion?

New Line knows how to crank out the great DVD's. Now I too have the "Box Set" of Elm ST movies however there is enough on the new DVD to get my $30. If they go ahead and make more re-visits to the Nightmare movies I hope they give us the works on Elm St 3
