This edition of the movie is WONDERFUL. The remastered picture speaks volumes of the love that New Line has for this movie. They do indeed have DTS-ES 6.1 on this disc, and it sounds incredible, even through a 5.1 system. I just went through the first disc with all the Infinifilm features and alternate takes, and it took me close to five hours (with breaks for dinner and laundry). They've taken out some sound cues (most noticeable is the sting sound effect when Rod starts getting hung in his jail cell) and they've reframed Freddy's fall down the stairs to excise the crash mat that has been visible for the past iterations of this movie. Also, I think that the visual effect of Freddy walking through the jail cell bars has been cleaned up and made a little better. I could be wrong about that, though. <br> I just kinda wish that they included the awesome "Freddy's Best Kills" montage that I saw in the theaters this past week. Overall, this DVD is definitely worth the $17.99.

That's a very good point. The only UPC located on the box set is the one on the bottom. Most places won't take DVDs if there are no UPCs on them.

Why would you wanna do that? That would ruin the box set because every DVD in the set has a special siding to form a big picture of Freddy. If I were you, I'd just keep it. You won't get much for just the one disc anyway.

Movieguy, THANK YOU for giving due love to Freddy's Revenge, it's my fave of the series. Most hate it for the gay subtext, but I think it's a nice dramatic undertone.
Will be getting this, the box set isn't all that great in that they ignored most of the sequels by giving us 'clips' of bonus features rather than commentaries and featurettes. Don't get me started on that labrnyth thing, that was horse s**t.

Maybe if you can ignore the extreme silliness of it. Most of the plot is complete ridiculous and that really should stand out to anyone who has spent any amount of time on commercial flights in the US.
The Scream movies aren't that old and I thought they were excellently done. Craven's best recent work.

New Line knows how to crank out the great DVD's. Now I too have the "Box Set" of Elm ST movies however there is enough on the new DVD to get my $30. If they go ahead and make more re-visits to the Nightmare movies I hope they give us the works on Elm St 3

I already own the box set but I think I'll get this one too. The new transfer should be nice and the cover art is freakin' fantastic! I love it! Just gorgeous!
And I enjoyed both CURSED and RED EYE. CURSED was a blast! Sure it's kind of cheesy but it was a very fun popcorn flick that I had a great time watching when I saw it in theaters. Not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. RED EYE was a solid thriller with a very good performance from the lovely Rachel McAdams.

The coverart really sucks, and the image of Freddy is from FvsJ - not NOES part1, and the didn't use the original font but instead this c**ppy generic one?
I actuallly picked up the Box set a few years ago only to take it back to the used DVD place because I felt I overdosed on NOES. Besides, they aren't all worth owning. I will pick this up even if Infinifilm discs are a ***** to manuever around.
Am I the only 1 that thinks the cover just reeks "Generic photoshop"? considering most of the IviniFilm DVDs kept the original poster art.
A bit unecessary, no? Considering the box set already out is incredible, I think I will pass on this one.
ANMOES is the only film in the series i`d like to own, and since I don`t have it yet, I`ll pick up this edition. That cover is superb.

The original is great, but Freddy was never scarier than he was in NOES 2: Freddy's Revenge.

I don't know if this looks like a justified double dip for me, and Wes Craven has begun to annoy me more and more--first by making a whole ton of mediocre to awful movies (I like about 3-4 of his films...) and then by whining about being "pigeonholed" as a director...when he's not an incredibly great one. Bleh.

Wasn't this release going to include a DTS 6.1 ES track as well? Mi Casa Multimedia (the company responsible for mastering the audio to all of New Line Cinema's films for DVD) reported that they were remastering the audio "in 6.1, 5.1 and 2.0" for the new release of ANOES.

Great cover but I've got the box set already.
I thought New Line had all but stopped releasing films onto their Infifilm discs... I own the boxed set but I think I might have to get it... DD EX is a nice add-on and I'll be interested to see how well they cleaned it up from the last release. LOVE the artwork. I wish studios would do more "abstract-ish" cover art for DVDs like this one here! Oooooh! Someone's getting excited!!!!
They'll probably be owned by Sony eventually.

The previous cut was very minor, so it would be impossible to tell from that. It's a blood splash that's missing. It was present on the initial UK releases, but subsequent releases use the trimmed US version. Nothing major, but quite jarring if you're used to seeing the big splash.
