Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced DVD ($27.96) and Blu-ray ($34.95) releases of A Single Man for the 6th July. Extras will include a commentary with Producer/Director Tom Ford, and a Making of A Single Man featurette. Art is attached:

Synopsis

Quote: A SINGLE MAN is based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. Set in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, it is the story of a British college professor (Colin Firth) who is struggling to find meaning to his life after the death of his long time partner. The story is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition, and, ultimately, the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life. 2009 Critics’ Choice Awards nominations include Colin Firth (Best Actor), Julianne Moore (Best Actress), Best Screenplay and Best Art Direction. 2010 Golden Globe nominations include Colin Firth (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama), Julianne Moore (Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture) and Best Original Score - Motion Picture.

Colin Firth was great! Julianne was Amazing (as usual) and with direction from Tom Ford, detail in Cinematography, Art Direction and especially Costumes were FANTASTIC!!!!

A Single Man was actually made with Ford's own money and the budget was quite small. It was after the film was completed that distributors bought rights. I doubt many special features were done during the shooting and the studio might have put on the disc everything they had in store.

I really wanted to see this, so I'll more than likely purchase this. It looks like something I could relate to, with the gorgeous cinematography that I love. I'm very sad that I never got around to seeing this!

Personally, I think the DVD is kind of a let-down. I'm probably still gonna pick it up because I thought A Single Man was just as important a contribution to cinema last year as Inglourious Basterds or The White Ribbon, but Sony/TWC really let the ball drop on the features department.
