I don't understand why people are saying "Well, the movie was just alright, but the visuals were great." Um... NO! In what way, exactly, were the visuals great? The effects looked like they weren't even finished, it looked like cartoony pre-viz colored in with fuzzy magic markers (not to mention how little the 3D did), and more importantly, NOTHING about the visual design was original. It was derivative of every film Burton has done; everything was either dark and spiky or bright and spiraly. Basically, it was ripped from Nightmare or Charlie, or both of them mixed together.
This movie SUCKS.
This movie SUCKS.
I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I don't know which one I'll buy, primarily because I don't know how often I would watch this movie.
I'll wait for the double dip Blu-ray 3D version
OK, first of all this movie sucked a$$. It was NOT "Alice in Wonderland," it was something that came out of Tim Burton's little brain.
Obviously Tim Burton should have titled this movie "The Mad Hatter" because that character is front and center on both covers. So sad...won't waste my money on this piece of $hit film.

Trust me. Both "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and "How to Train Your Dragon" are way better than this "$hit" of a film that we will both call. Believe me. If you don't want to see these two movies I listed, then fine. But if you saw both of them and liked them, you would be very happy that you listen to me because I said so.

This movie was cute. I'm going to say that I thought that this was Tim Burton's most accessible film to date with some dazzling visuals (the 3D version looked darker, the 2D version looked a helluva better). Although I'd wish Burton would stop casting his wife and Johnny Depp in every movie he does, it's getting tiresome.
And I hate Disney's FastPlay option. Hate it, hate it. This is a live-action film Disney, we don't need it.

By "most accessible" do you mean "most easily swallowed by the masses of mindless Hot Topic drones who wouldn't know a decent fantasy film if it walked up and smacked them in the face?" Because if that's what you meant, then sure. It totally is.
And I'll say it again: the effects in this movie were godawful. GOD. AWFUL. Design was unoriginal, final product looked utterly half-assed.
Everyone should boycott this garbage and check out something original and thought-provoking like Ink.

Can't say anything about this film as I haven't seen it yet, but I'm a huge Tim Burton fan and have everything he's ever done on DVD and/or BD. Can't say that he's done a single film that I don't love. (yes even POTA)
Actually, I quite like Mars Attacks! That's why I said what I said. As for Alice, it's a dry movie. I never felt involved in it. It's like Eragon, Narnia 1, or Golden Compass all over again.

I'll be buying the blu ray combo pack with the inevitable $10 coupon from Disney.
So... will the DVD/Blu Ray combo have all the special features playable on the DVD side too? Otherwise it's not worth it.
I'm angry that DVD owners are getting shafted on special features. I love Burton films. I love the COLLECTIBLE versions with all the special features. But I DO NOT WANT TO UPGRADE TO BLU RAY!!

Only if there is a $10 off coupon will I buy this. I'll give it another go, I wasn't very impressed with it on the theater, I fell a sleep. Maybe it will play better at home.

This movie is an appalling piece of s**t.
I'm glad everyone immediately theorizes that Blu-Ray favoritism led to the imbalance in features. Perhaps they just don't fit on the one disc DVD, and it isn't cost-effective to release a 2-disc DVD. I mean, in the case of Warner Bros., I understand this argument -- their DVDs often have NO features, and the Blu-Ray has lots of material, but in this case, I can easily believe that the movie and 3 featurettes command the majority of available space on a single DVD.
Also, the reason they make the combo packs is so that DVD owners can buy it, get the exact same DVD disc they were already going to buy anyway, and be ready for the time when they too can get ahold of a Blu-Ray player. Is there any reason not to do this when the price difference is usually about $5 (DVD $19.99, Blu-Ray $24.99)?
ETA: I see above that someone said "I DO NOT WANT TO UPGRADE TO BLU-RAY!" Why not? Clearly, the extras you want are on BD. Just buy a really cheap BD player, don't upgrade your TV, and voila: you have the extras you wanted. You could complain that you'll be paying more for the more-expensive discs, but you know, you'd be paying more for the 2-Disc Special Edition than you would for the 1-disc edition, too, at very likely the same amount of increase. Since Blu-Ray players can easily be had in the $100 range, it's just plain stubbornness that would keep you from upgrading at this point. Nobody will make you re-buy all of your old movies, and the DVDs are backwards compatible.

I imported the Best Buy Exclusive blu-ray of Alice In Wonderland. Because I'm in the UK, I can not get the points from the code because I'm not in the US.
