Love the Alien films, well 1 & 2. 2 being my favorite. But a $100 plus for this set. They are crazy. I got 6 films of Star Trek on Blu for $65. They lost 1/2 or more of there buyers with that price. Get that bad boy down to $65 ish and people will be jumping on this left and right.
Fincher's not going to participate and though we heard rumours that they have brough the actors back into the recording studio to do some ADR work, this is probably untrue.

I have the Alien Quadrilogy and Alien Legacy set on DVD, those 2 are in this blu-ray set I hope? Hope they put an effort on the special edition of Alien 3, the one in Quadrilogy was kinda lame :x
I'm just worried that I may have to throw away the cardboard for aesthetic reasons and I feel very funny about that.
regarding the "look i'm a blu-ray boxset banner"....they sometimes tend to be just for packaging purposes to seperate the blu-ray and dvd versions and come off once you open it. they are either attached to the shrinkwrap or just slide off the item once you take the shrinkwrap off. of course i'm just talking about box sets here.

You're entitled to his opinion. Personally I feel he does a great service to movie lovers all over the world and is certainly well respected in the industry. He runs a great site, as do Chris and his team here. But like I say, you're entitled to your opinion.
Getting back on topic... I've seen some pack shots of the UK version with a horrible blue band at the top of the slip sleeve. The US one is all black and much looks classier. I may have to import if the artwork is spoilt by the "look I'm a blu-ray boxset" banner on the sleeve. The only problem with importing is that customs and excise are s**t hot now on anything worth more than £18.

That depends entirely on what kind of viewer you are. There are a lot of people who can still have the same excitement upon watching it directly after a "making of" feature.

Stupid looking boxset. Couldn't it have just been the egg on its own rather than the stupid scaled Alien hugging it?

Definitely, but usually Fox puts out the best Blu-Rays like "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Home Alone", so theres hope. Though this set will be epic and probably one of the greatest sets on Blu-Ray.

where does it say anything about new transfers? Based on the fact that all the intros are leftovers from the quad set, i would say that these have the same masters as that set- Possibly not a bad thing, but, they are still at least 6 years old done with older tech.

And here I thought the Quadrilogy version was just about as definitive a box set as humanly possible but Fox has proven me wrong. Looks like not only everything is included from both the Quadrilogy version as well as the first DVD releases (which were omitted in the Quadrilogy) but also a hell of a lot more. I will do some serious thinking into upgrading even though I love the Quadrilogy. At least this time the packaging will surely be better than the massive cardboard fold out job last time which remains extremely annoying to this day when you're trying to access certain discs.

That deleted scene with Burke finally sees the light of day- yes!
This set looks like one to own.

So pumped for this on blu! I hope they get the transfer right, after all they seem to be having real trouble with this series cousin, "predator". I'm confident it's gonna look great though.
This is one hell of a box set and I love how they always give us all the versions including a digitally remastered transfer of the original...take note George Lucas!!!

A little advice Horrorfan, Don't watch Alien3 in its theatrical cut. You'll only get dissapointed or bored by that Fox's mess. Watch the 'Alien3 Assembly Cut' coz that's as close to the real thing (Director's Cut) as you can get. For Alien 4, keep in your mind that it's just a brainless action movie, so you'll know what to hope for.

I wish FOX and Fincher could patch things up so he could do a director's cut of Alien 3. The Assembly Cut is awesome and superior to the theatrical one and a director's cut would probably be even better.
Not sure if I'm going to get this. The price tag is certainly hefty and I've only seen the first two movies. While the first two "Alien" films were terrific, I haven't seen the others. I'll Netflix "Alien 3" and "Alien Resurrection", and if they are pretty good movies, then this might be a purchase. The extras definitely look fulfilling and the artwork looks astounding.
Is there new extra material compared to the (excellent) Quadroligy dvd boxset?
Awesome news! Will be buying.
Wow, is that a complete documentary of Alien3's clash between director and Fox'x execs in disc 5 & 6? It's a pity that they can't get Dave Fincher into a commentary or interview to look back at his film. Still, the Alien 3 extras look awesome! Absolute buy!

not sure about jam packed but i can definately see them releasing some sorta box set once the 3rd movie hits home video.

I held off on getting the original Alien Anthology because I knew if I picked up that boxed set, that a newer jampacked boxed set would come out. I know what I am picking up around Halloween. Now here's hoping that Fox will release a jampacked like box set for Predator.

because when the prequel comes out on blu, they can add it to this collection and use the egg box then. sneaky b*****ds.
but yeah i'll wait to hear the reviews cuz Aliens can easily suffer Predator's fate but also wait for the price to drop. i already have the quadrilogy on dvd so i wanna make sure i doubledip for a good price and not out of "i want this" syndrome. lol

I can't wait for this to come out. I really hope they restored ALIENS good. It's my favorite one out of all of them but I always thought the picture quality was bad.
Hopefully Fox won't mess up this one. If done right PQ wise, this release will be a Must Own for me.
I want this although I've already double...nay...trippledipped already (at least), but this is one of the very few franchises where I'm ready to do that.
I'll wait a while though. For the price to go down $50 first, but also to be sure they haven't DNR'd the hell out of it, like the latest Predator release.

On October 25th everyone will hear you scream. This is going to be the box set to beat with everything ever made for Laserdisc & DVD to be carried over here, plus new material. WOW!! Here's hoping Fox and Lucasfilm will do the same for the entire Star Wars Saga when the comes out next year.
