Alien Autopsy (US - DVD R1)
Warner Home Video has announced a 2006 film starring Ant and Dec
Title: Alien Autopsy (IMDb)
Starring: Declan Donnelly
Released: 21st September 2010
SRP: $14.98
Further Details:
Warner Home Video has announced Alien Autopsy for the 21st September. Retail will be around $14.98. Extras will include a commentary by Director Jonny Campbell, a Making of Ant and Dec’s Alien Autopsy featurette, additional scenes, an alternate opening, outtakes, an Alien Game, and the theatrical trailer. We've attached the official package artwork below:

Quote: In 1995, mysterious top-secret black-and-white footage, supposedly filmed during the 1947 Roswell incident, was broadcast around the world. It showed the autopsy of an alien lifeform. The men responsible for the discovery of the footage, buddies Ray (Declan Donnelly) and Gary (Ant McPartlin), are thrown into intense media scrutiny. But the guys have an even bigger secret. And it’s not very pretty. Based on true events, Alien Autopsy is the alternately bizarre and frequently quirky story of the two unlikely lads from London who become icons in UFOlogy with a discovery that stunned millions who’ve long searched for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Bill Pullman (Spaceballs, Independence Day) and Harry Dean Stanton (Alien) join a cast of intriguing characters in the tale of the mystery that, in one sense at least, was truly out of this world.

So, I'm guessing this direct-to-DVD release is trying to copy District 9. Why do so many direct-to-DVDs seem like copies of big blockbusters? STill though, might check this out if it is about aliens/supernatural.

Oh, my, God. I swear I thought America already got this.
I remember seeing this at the cinema four years ago. Time does fly.

The cover is obviously trying to cap on the success of District 9. Do these directors seriously think that if you copy the look of another film, its gonna work? Okay, i'm gonna make a film called "Extreme Violence." On the artwork will be a man with a knife and a woman next to him. The man will have a black star around his eye, and an eyeball will be below him.

This was produced in the UK during 2005, and released April 2006 - a long, long time before District 9 was even considered. Oh, and District 9 was a pile of c**p anyway.

Sounds interesting.
i assume this is talking about that Fox tv special...if thats the case, while the special got a lot of attention and all, i dont recall anybody involved being thrown into "intense media scrutiny". lol
but i guess this is supposed to be "the story we never knew".
so the question is, does the movie treat the autopsy special as real footage like it claimed to be or does it admit or least imply it was all a fraud?

Seeing that this is the US debut of a UK Warner Bros. movie, is there a possibility that "The Firm" (not to confuse Americans with the Tom Cruise movie of the same name) might be released here next?

The clue was on the link on the home-page, y'know where it said "Warner Home Video has announced a 2006 film starring Ant and Dec..."
So, it would indeed appear that the makers of this film travelled forward in time, watched District 9, liked it, then travelled back to - what was for them - the present day to steal the idea before the makers of Dictrict 9 came up with it in the first place...

I think people are mainly complaining about the District 9-inspired artwork--not so much the plot itself.

Exactly, all these direct-to-DVD covers look like these big movie blockbusters. I saw one @ Blockbuster a while back that was basically a ripoff of Obsessed (with Beyonce). & don't get me started on how many Wanted copy-cats there were. & remember the UK's announcement of Paranormal Entity...
I mean, what's next? A Direct-to-DVD cover of a closeup of some poorly designed blue alien?

I really love it when someone (in this case dvdtakeaway) tries to wield the sword of I'm-smarter-than-you and falls flat on his face. Yes, "Alien Autopsy" was released in 2006, which predated "District 9" by three years. Look back at all the promotional materials for "Alien Autopsy" from that time, you'll find that not a single poster, advertisement, or DVD cover resembled the one pictured here - which is clearly a blatant rip-off of the "District 9" graphic work.
It has nothing to do with the plot of either film. Did you even read Pythonofdoom's message? It's really quite unbelievable how absolutely stupid you are. How does a person like you survive?

Pythonofdoom's message didn't mention artwork. dvdtakeaway thought he didn't know of its 2006 release. I think District 9 is superb with its ideology, technical production, acting, etc. Maybe you're upset because dvdtakeaway didn't like it.

Finkelstein you're obviously a bit of a plonker. Pythonofdoom never mentioned the word ARTWORK anywhere in his post. Maybe you should try reading posts correctly before commenting. Idiot. Oh, and District 9 is still a pile of c**p.

D9..cr*p..yup...AA...cra*....agreed. Wheres Paramount`s Fire In The Sky (blu) and Enemy Mine (blu)? Decent alien films. :0)
... actually, I stand corrected. So yesterday @ Walmart, I DID SEE A DIRECT-TO-DVD RIPOFF OF AVATAR. Don't even remember the name but it said it aired on Syfy.
