stupid name
I can't believe they are still using this stupid made up word for the boxset. Quadrilogy indeed.. I could understand them changing it for the US but here in the UK we know that a Quartet is not only applicable to stringed instruments!

Yeah, but Alien Quartet would sound shite
All I care about is ALIEN 3! Will it be the David Fincher workprint cut. We already know Aliens will have both theatrical and SE versions via branching. Alien may ad a bit but there's not much to add back as Ridley Scott was left to his own divices and is already a "Director's Cut".
Alien Ressurection (spit!) should be scrapped and started from scratch (The set should state Alien Ressurection SE Coaster DVD). Before you A.R. fans get angry, I think it has some great set pieces but the whole pink, Alien, human cross breed thing is utter B****CKS!!!!
I want Alien 3 News!!!!

I wouldn't say that I'm a fan of the Alien saga although I feel like I should take a look at this collection when it's released.
In response to Oliver Scott
A few sources have said that the Alien 3 DVD will contain the full, uncut 170 minute version of Fincher's film. I don't believe we have any sort of confirmation of this, but it is a very strong rumor at this time. We will geep you all updated!
Tom has informed me that it will be the 140 minute cut (there is NO 170 minute cut, that's just a rumor).
Is this box set going to be sold in the United States as well??

Yes
How about Region 4 (Australia)? Haven't been able to find any info relating to a possible release here yet.
will the set be limited in any way?
I don't wanna rush to buy/preorder one before having read comparisons between R1 and R2. and it seems that I won't have enough money at the time of release anyway. would be a nice xmas present though.

Yes, it should be available for Region 4, we just have no announcement as of yet as far as a release date.
As for Mr. Bechet's question of limited availability: I do not believe this is a "limited" release.

How Many Different Film Versions?
I just checked out the Alien: Director's Cut trailer over at and I can't wait! But my question is: Will this box set have the Director's Cut and Theatrical Cut of Alien, as well as Theatrical Cuts of Alien 3 and 4. Also will all the films have dts tracks? I must know!
Good and Bad News!!!
Over at Ameraican DVD site www.digitalbits.com they are producing a book all about the DVD format. They have been given access to the full production of the Alien Quadrilogy set. The book with have a full section on this release with photos. On the site they have stated they know full details on the set but can't let the cat out of the bag until Fox give the Ok! But they have stated today that the set will not include the Alien Legacy Doc from the original box set release due to space restrictions and a small piece advertising the book states that they have a bit on creating the Alien 3 director's cut and new special effects for Alien, Alien 3 and Alien Ressurection....Wow!!!
Website
Is there a website for this release? Or somewhere where I can view a trailer for this special edition?
Alien Quadilogy
HI! Does anyone knows if both R1 and R2 are going to be the same??Also it seems that R1 and R2 will have different art box is this true??
Thanks.
Thanks.
Alien 3: new version????
None of the extras for Alien 3 indicate this to be an extended version, unlike the other films which all seem to have an extended introduction by the director. The selling point for me was the new version of Alien 3, but now I am not convinced this will materialise.....
Hi Darin
All four of the films will have extended versions and theatrical versions. I doubt you'll be seeing a director introduction from Fincher though because he can't distance himself from the project enough!

Alien Quadrilogy
The BBFC have passed more features for the Alien Quadrilogy Boxset including six additions to the Alien 3 set and this means the Alien 3 set will include an extended version. Here's the extra specs:
Special Edition Feature (138m 51s)
Music, Editing & Sound Featurette (14m 50s)
Adi's Workshop Production Featurettes (23m 26s)
Optical Fury Visual Effects Featurette (23m 18s)
Post Mortem Reaction To The Film Featurette (5m 46s)
Multi-Angle Segment E.E.V. Bioscan With Commentary (12m 1s)
This means Alien 3 will have an extra 29 minutes of unseen footage added.
Hey Tom what do you mean by that about Fincher being unable to distance himself about the project.....

Hi João, I already added those features, but I'll let you off
Reason Fincher didn't want anything to do with it was because he was on the receiving end of loads of studio pressure and as such the theatrical cut wasn't exactly what he had wanted. So now he doesn't have anything to do with the film at all as far as I know. I'm sure some other people will be able to give you more info, I'm not that big on Alien info unfortunately!
