I digital copy is a film that is just a copy of the film. Although it's not illegal. You can easily transport the disc into your PC Laptop, Windows Media XP, or Mac OS X.
Okay..this movie wasn't as bad as people said it was...I heard things like " It was as bad as a Sci Fi movie original"...No it wasn't...the only thing i liked about this movie was the Predator...he's the s**t...but otherwise...this movie wasn't as a good as the first one
Hi. I'm new here. I just have to say that though this film had it's flaws, but it was a good film. It honored both franchise origins and myths. Though many probrobly have only watched the films, there is plenty of material that is official canon through comic books and even games that have been around since the late 80's early 90's.
My issues with the first film is that Predators are a replitian race in Antarctica. Regardless of size, they would have frozen in those extreme temperatures. It was quite unbelievable and did not follow Predator mythos. They only come during the years that it is hot to sustain the temperature that they must have to survive. The Aliens (Xenomorphs) are the only ones that are able to adapt to virtually any environment. The story wasn't too bad in exploring Gods from the heavens which are in quite a few civilizations, but it was a bit hard to swallow. In the end, it was very mediocre.
This film was quite better. It did lack a deep story element, but it was a step up from what we have received in the last two Alien films and AVP. The characters in this film weren't as well written as I would have liked. Visually this film was on point. The Aliens and Predator haven't looked that good in a while. The weapons in this film were very fun. Quite similar to the way Predator 2 had shown us more intriguing weapons to the Predator's arsenal than the first film. The Pred-Alien has been something that has been expected since the early 90's in the first draft of an AVP film that was never made due to the interesting addition of a Pred-Alien in the Darkhorse comics. It is common knowledge that the Aliens (Xenomorphs) use the host body by impregnating a living organism and compliment it's own DNA to survive the conditions of that region. Again, the adapt to anything in their surroundings. The ultimate surviving species. This film is much better than what people give it credit for. And keep in mind, the Strause Brothers said from day one that this film was to get the frachise back into space where it should be. View it more as a set-up film to fix past issues that the first AVP damaged. And hey, they made it rated "R" as all Alien and Predator films should be. I hope this helps some appreciate what this film was towards a better film in the future. I don't know about any of you, but I'm looking forward to seeing some Space Marines in AVP3.
Take care.

So much potetial and a real let down - I will get this anyway as it will go with the collection and hopefully the un-rated has a it more to improve it.
saw the first one and hated it. After all these years waiting for a AVP movie and it is dissapointing. The only thing that was cool, is that in the first film October 3 is the day I was born on, excpet for that it stunk. I'll wait for public access for this movie, Steve Sky67

Yeah, this movie sucked.
The first one was nothing special, but compared to this, the first one was a freaking masterpiece. But like others have said, that coverart for the unrated version is frickin dope. I might buy it anyways, cuz the action was somewhat cool.

This was ok still not buying it(I only have the first 2 "Alien" movies, both editions and the first 2 "Predator' movies,in the SE only).
I will rent this first. I liked the first one as a mindless action film with monsters, a modern B movie.
Alien and Predator are nothing like their reputation, and the movie was PG13. I havent seen AVPr, but if it is anything like AVP, I will just enjoy the action as the nameless actors get killed

There were many absurd aspects to Allien:Ressurection but the kicker (IMO) was the human/alien hybrid at the end.
Hated Alien3 originally because of the Dog/Alien, but time and multiple viewings have given me a new appreciation for it. Something kept telling me to keep giving it a chance.
Aliens and Predators are well established scary looking creatures, if you have a good writer who knows how to use them properly, you don't need to "redesign" them for each film. Leave a good design alone!
Well, I think you answered your own criticism with the Alien3 comparison. Since Alien3, it has been accepted canon that Aliens take on traits from the host that they impregnate. So why the misunderstanding on why there'd be a Pred-Alien?
Not a misunderstanding especially given the final scene in the first AvP.
I didn't mind the Dog/Alien so much but wasn't crazy about it either. But since then, subsequent films have the alien crossbreeding with other species to create weird alien hybrids just so the filmmakers could design a "bigger and badder" looking Alien, when the original was just fine.
I was just citing that if they HAD to have a hybrid alien, I felt Alien3 was the most effective use of the crossbreeding plot device and subsequent versions have been increasingly more rediculous.
The Predalien's been around for quite a while. It first appeared in the games and i'm sure it's popped up in comics and novels as well.
Exactly...so again I reiterate, what's the surprise here? The Pred-Alien hybrid has been around since the first AvP game. And besides that, there's always been various versions of the Alien. You have the Warrior subspecies, from ALIENS. The dog-alien from ALIEN, etc. In fact, I'd say that the sub-species of alien probably has to do with the host of the Queen Alien. Because the alien from the first movie was most probably a queen that came from the "space jockey" race, while the queen from Aliens came from the humans on LV-426.
So the bottom line is, if you don't know your canon from a certain franchise, beit a sci-fi franchise or a comic book superhero franchise, do your research first before you make ridiculous (<-- with an I) comments about things you know nothing about.
Sorry, I don't play video games and I never read the comic books, so I never heard of the Predalien before now.
The Predalien never appeared in any of the other MOVIES, so as far as I'm concerned, it never happened until this film (well, technically the first AvP).
I don't consider video games canon to a film franchise.

can someone tell me what the "digital copy" means?
is it like a 2-discs loaded with a bunch of extras?
or is it an extra copy of the movie?
i dont get it...
anyways... i was really dissapointed...
it should be focus a lot more into the aliens/predator...
i didnt like just to see only one predator...
this movie focused alot more into humans...
but i'll but it...
just to complete the collection...
p.s.
i really need to know, what the digital copy means...
and why FOX is realsing all their movies on digital copy...
just dont get it

Blu Ray cover is awesome, not that I'll buy a s**te film!
I like the single disc rated edition cover art work better because the picture of an explosion on Earth reflects my reaction to the film when I saw it.

Brilliant Quasar, you da man. I wish people would stop supporting these brainless remakes/sequels/prequels whatever that Hollywood spits out like prune pits. Producers figure that the fanboys will faithfully spend their money on these franchises and they need not be creative/ artistic/imaginative at all. Just throw in some CGI, give them only what's expected and you'll make back your investment. Pitiful

Guys stop attacking people if they like this movie People may have diffrent Taste than you do doesnt mean your way is the right way good lord. anway for the people bashing diftial copy this is manly for the people who dont know alot about the stuff plus its alteast more acurate than riping some times hell ive had sevraly movies riped for my ipod when the audo and video were way out of sync and i would use the same setings that worked with other movies. so i really see this better than ripping its a more realiable way atleast ill know my file will just be about as good as the dvd version in terms of quailty.

No it isn't. The first one was far superior to this one. The first AVP had a decent story, this movie had no plot. It was boring to watch. I was waiting for a good story to start and that never happened.

the `making of AVPR` book is better! will buy the bluray dvd to view the making of extras, Woodruff & Gillis are genious`s. film kinda sucked, no suspense, no tension, too dark and fast.
I loved this movie. It was just an alien horror movie, and it didn't try to be anything else. The characters were pretty believable and the effects were good, what more do you expect from a sci-fi vs. match? I'm not saying its approaching Ridley Scott's 'Alien' in terms of cinema greatness, but honestly, what was everyone who hated this really expecting out of it? Have you read the comic books its based on? And the 2-disc art is great, not only because its just awesome looking, but because it totally matches the cover of the first AVP extended cut.

Terrible movie, just as bad as the original, dare I say maybe even worse.
This spin-off seems hell bent on destroying both franchises.

You said what now? So what was great about the original movies were that they were full of mindless action? Huh. Hmmmm.. No. And I'm not even going to bother trying to reason with this statement. All I will say is this... this is not only contender for worst film of the year... but for it's budget, it's legacy, it's high profile... possibly contender for biggest mistake of ALL time.

Terrible movie. One of very few films I wanted to walk out on, the only reason I didnt is because I paid for it. Its interesting how you only see the "predalien" clearly on the box art, its just all shadows and darkness in the actual movie.
Decent cover art. Would have prefered the one disc as the Blu ray tho.
We need an Alien 5 already. More Ripley!

American gangster 3 disc set also has a digital copy on it to store it on a ipod or an computer......digital pretty stupid in my opinion!

the first predator is one of my fave films which ive just bought on blu-ray ,i agree with Clavius the hybrid is a real bad idea,im not a great fan of the alien films apart from aliens and also avp wasnt too bad but this avpr was awful. Can we have predator 3 please and start doing it properly again.

Th sequel is better than the first AVP, but in some moments that isn't saying much.

I liked it better than the first one, but it suffered from the addition of to much human interest story added into it, much like Transformers.

Single disc and BD artwork added. This film was odd. Much better action than the first, even less character development. Instantly forgettable any way you look at it.

Ummm.....nearly 20 minutes of deleted scenes were submitted to the British ratings board. They had BETTER show up on the 2-disc or I will pitch a fit.
I thought this was alright. The human characters were awful, but the creatures were handled well, even the Predator/Alien hybrid (which is an idea i absolutely hate.)
It was loud, violent & mindless, which is exactly what i expected going in & i wasn't disappointed. Plus the Predator in this kicked f**k out of everything that moved, unlike the ultra-lame 'friendly' Predator in the first film. I'll pick up the BD.

this a cool cover
This movie was much better the AVP 1
I remember I thought there was no way this could be as piss poor as the original AVP. I was DEAD WRONG. This film felt straight to sci-fi channel the whole time with little to no respect to the film series it's based upon aside from cringe-inducing homages in the names of characters. The predator was amazingly weak and the Predalien although I suppose could be a cool inclusion was played pathetically...and all the characters are teenagers ripped from "I know what you did last scream" horror films of the late 90's with the beneficial soap operatic development of angst cliches. Awful, awful film...and although they played it up for their intense violence in the comparison to the PG-13 of the original...it was hardly so (certainly could pass for PG-13 with just a few trims)...and really when does that make a movie better anyways even if it is "Alien" or "Predator".
Hi, my name is Thembones and I'm a Predator/Alien addict. Hi, Thembones. I've been addicted to both franchises from the beginning. It started with the initial Alien release which scared the bejesus out of me. Then I got the VHS and played it continuously until it looked like I was watching it through a glass of milk. I couldn't help myself. 2 or 3 times a day. I tried everything to kick the movie out of the VCR but nothing worked. It was jammed in there like a popcorn kernel between your teeth. Then came Aliens. Talk about a monkey on my back. Then Predator, the comics, the cross-over comics and it all just got so freaking cool over the years with sequels and talk of sequels. Then this internet thing started and I found others like myself who were addicted to monsters, aliens with lots of blood and gore with poor hapless humans in their path.
Well, it's years later and I'm still hooked like a junkie. Sure, AvP and AvPR weren't the greatest cross over movies ever created but they feed my addiction and I like them for what they are and that's good enough. It seems that with just about any comic book or franchine movie there will never be made a movie to satisfy everyone and their expectations. Sure, Hollywood blows it up beyond expectations but this is what we get. So, there's very little point to complaining because the deed has been done. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Well, for one, there was two directors, and two, Aliens had great characters (as did Predator).

Jeez, dude, that's stupid. If you hate it, don't buy it.

in my opinion, hope they make a third and close the series to continue with standalones
fun, silly movie. just as good (if thats a good thing) as the first. ill just get the standard dvd.
What kind of award do people receive when buying bad movies just to complete a collection? The more you buy, the more waste products will be shoved down your throats
What's up with another 2-disc digital copy. Fox is desperate.

And the film was hardly as bad as people here are claiming...people go in expecting too much from an action movie, and you know what? It actually had mildly decent character development...it was just a bit too short once the action began...
Preaching to the choir here. If it's not some indie c**p like Juno (which I have seen and I thought was good) or some catalog release of an Oscar winner, people here always basically get excited to trash it.
And use CAPITAL letters to prove that their opinion is the correct one.

Fox is doing this digital copy thing so that we can copy the movie to a ipod,computer...etc.

My friend loves the first AvP, loves the video games, etc. Even he didn't like this one, but like a few on here, he will buy it for completion's sake.
I, on the other hand, loathed the first AvP, only like the first two Alien films, and like the first Predator. I'm not a huge fan of either creature. I'm staying far away from this one lest he decides to watch it sometime I'm over.

It first appeared in the games and i'm sure it's popped up in comics and novels as well.

why must all bad films have to receive the best cover art? Ehhhh!
yes, from the trailer i could already underestimate this movie. It sucked.

God the sequal was HORRIBLE,I was so excited to see it and it blew so hard! BUT I may give the unrated one a Shot because it could somehow be better...yet I doubt it!
I thought this was waaaaay better than AvP1. If you go into a film like this expecting the Godfather, then you're just outright retarded. If you accept it for what it is (mindless entertainment), then it's great. The director said before it came out that he went for what was so great about the previous movies - no character development and mindless killing. If you ask me, he succeeded.

Digital copy?
Buh?
Buh?
We need some extremely talented directors and writers to save this franchise. What's happening to these creatures just ain't right.
terrible movie! it was so bad i had to walk out of the theater
I had problems with this movie but I didn't hate it. Call me a sucker but I'll probably go for the 2-disc edition when it goes on sale for the right price.
This movie s*cked sooooo bad. I wouldn't waste a nickel more on it. What a disappointment after the first AVP. AVO had a good story, this has none! Zero! Zip! No storyline at all. Pointless movie!
box art looks similar in style to the AVP 1 unrated disc...thats a nice touch.
and you know i'm not a "blind buyer" but i have all 4 alien movies, both predators and the first AVP...even if i dont like this, i know i'd eventually buy it for "completition's sake" so i think this will be my first blind buy....besides with all the hate AVP got, i enjoyed it so i'll probably like this one too...and its another excuse to build up my small blu-ray library.

I might check this out for $3 on a rental. Reviews weren't good enough to warrant a $10 theatre ticket.
