An Inconvenient Truth for Schools (US - DVD R1)
Teachers can claim one of 50,000 free DVDs of this documentary via a website
50,000 copies of An Inconvenient Truth are being given away to teachers in the United States via the participate.net website between 18th December 2006 and 18th January 2007. As a form of validation, those applying for the DVD will have to enter their school's nine-digit federal tax ID number and delivery will take approximately 6-8 weeks. This offer has been arranged by the following: Paramount Vantage, Participant Productions and The Environmental Media Association.
"Since the film debuted, we have received hundreds of emails from teachers interested in using An Inconvenient Truth in their classrooms to educate students about global warming. I am thrilled that we are able to give away these DVD's through the generosity of individual citizens who are underwriting this effort and I hope it helps inspire and move a generation towards solving this urgent problem," said Laurie David, a producer of the film.
Paramount Home Entertainment released Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth on 21st November 2006. This title is, "a passionate and inspirational look at one man's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress by revealing the truths about it." The DVD is presented in widescreen with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital 2.0, whilst subtitles are provided in English, French and Spanish. In terms of extra features this release contains: an update by Al Gore, a Melissa Etheridge music video for "I Need to Wake Up," an audio commentary by director Davis Guggenheim and a second commentary by producers Lawrence Bender, Scott Burns, Laurie David and Lesley Chilcott.
