Apparently the Blu-Ray is going to get an Extended Cut... yet another fine example of us folks who like our standard DVDs being f**ked over again!!!

It is indeed. Sony has some preliminary specs up on their press site.
The French have a limited edition coming too, something like angel and demon bookends..original.
I thought this was much better than the first.
In stark contrast to The Da Vinci Code, I found this film pretty enjoyable and will probably pick up the Blu.

If you are paying 4 times as much for your Blu-rays you are getting screawd, where on Earth are you getting them from harrods!!!!!
I only ever pay a few pounds more and its worth it. Also, if you wait a few months they are the same price anyway.

So true - even now I have noticed that down under a hell of a lot of BD's have dropped at least $5 recently...

Hated the twist ending. Great film visually though.
I ended up buying the extended Da Vinci Code on Region 4 DVD (cant say it was one of better purchases), am I gonna have to use the Aussies again just because Sony seem prejudice toward DVD owners?
Unless Sony submit the PG-13/extended cut, avoid the UK editions are they have been cut to get a 12A - as per frickin' usual >X(
the UK version has not been cut. What kind off nonsense do you speak off
how come we still didnt get a release date????

Um yes it has. The distributors couldn't get a 12A without making some changes, so they re-edited it for the UK market, just like they did with The Da Vinci Code.

I wanna see the proof it has been cut and what has been cut?

Taken from the BBFC listing of the film
"This work was passed with no cuts made.
During post-production, the distributor sought and was given advice on how to secure the desired classification. Following this advice, certain changes were made prior to submission ."
Therefore Sony pre-cut before submission knowing it would not get a 12A in the UK. The question then becomes was it cut specifically for the UK, like Casino Royale etc. at the pre-certification stage or was this for the global version.
I would expect it is only the UK version which was cut as most other countries take a more relaxed attitude to violence at the 12A or similar rating level.

Very well said, thank you. I would agree - most cuts that are made following BBFC advice only usually apply to UK releases. Da Vinci Code, Casino Royale, etc. However sometimes thats not always the case (Quantum of Solace) but its rare.

But are they cut when ther are released on Blu Ray and DVD?
If they are they are pissing off the fans big time and that is not right at all!

Yes, the UK releases will be cut on BD and DVD *unless* Sony submit the uncut version and accept a 15 rating.
I hope no one buys them. Who in the hell want a cut movie in their collection
Not me! Ive been importing uncut movies since the day I found out about the BBFC's censorship. Even if somethings slightly cut, I dont buy it.

99.99% of the population will not even know it is cut and will buy regardless.
It is only film fans like us who even realise and care.
What really annoys me is now with the BBFC allowing multiple age rating releases on BD and DVD they could easily release an uncut version as well but can't be bothered.

i wanna know a US release for this, and im 100% positive that's gonna come out on november..
The extended cut of The Da Vinci Code is a 15 on Blu-ray though, so I doubt it has any of the BBFC changes. It will be the same for the extended cut of Angels & Demons since it too has a 15 rating on the Blu-ray cover.
The BBFC have classified both the US Theatrical Version & the Extended Version as 15, so it looks like this BD will be fully uncut.
Da Vinci Code wasn't 'cut' as such, they just asked Sony to tone down the sound effects during some violent scenes. I'd imagine the BD of that will also be unaltered.

Sorry, you are incorrect. The uncut version was passed 15 quite some time ago for "moderate bloody violence" and it is the "unrated" extended cut.

True, no footage is missing, but edits (or cuts) *were* made to the soundtrack. Since these were UK-only changes, it is fair to say that the UK 12-rated versions (cinema and DVD) are cut.

What's 'incorrect' about my post? The UK BD is rated 15: Check. It's the extended cut: Check. Since it's a 15 I doubt it has any BBFC alterations because those were only meant for the 12A version.
Why no commentary, that's disappointing.
great to it will be released uncut on Blu Ray
