Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced an Anniversary Edition of Labyrinth which stars Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. This two-disc edition will be available to own from the 14th August, and should retail at around $24.96. As well as an all-new transfer, the set features never-before-seen footage recovered from Jim Henson’s home in England, and 60 minutes of exclusive featurettes (including "Paper, Cloth and Creatures", and "Coming of Age") that include interviews with luminaries such as George Lucas and Brian Froud. Topping it all off will be some special lenticular packaging.
Also arriving on the 14th August will be a 25th Anniversary Edition of Dark Crystal which should keep fans of Jim Henson happy. The two-disc set will again feature an all-new digital transfer, along with footage recovered from Jim Henson's home, a new commentary by Conceptual Designer/Supervisor Brian Froud, and 50 minutes of all-new featurettes (including "Creatures and Creations", "Lifelike Illusion", and "Singular Vision and the Kingdom United"). Again, the discs will arrive housed in lenticular packaging.

Cool. Sound like a decent excuse to upgrade the versions that I have, only other movie I've done this with is Princess Bride.

Both DVD's will be released in the UK on October 1 according to www.sphe.co.uk.
So wait, is the extra footage going to be branched into the film? or just seperate as extras, either way I am there! These films are most worth the double dip.

I think that's just refering to the material used in the extra material. I'm still awaiting the press releases unfortunately so things are still a little sketchy.

course this happens after i just bought that last special edition of dark crysal.....i just have the original labyrinth so that'll be worth upgrading...

Labyrinth will now be added to the collection. David Bowie should act more but in the 1980's he had a very few memorable roles and this was one of them.

YEAH, since there $50 versions didn't sell, everytime I went to best buy I would see them there for $50 and say to myself, I don't care how many special features this movie has, I ain't paying $50.

so the dark crystal and Labyrinth have been realesed what 8 times on DVD now?
they've only been released twice as far as i know..least in region 1....there's the original bare bones versions and then the more recent 50$ collector editions...so this would make 3
but i doubt anyone's going to beat the evil dead/army of darkness record for never ending dipping....and those movies are being re-released yet again soon...lol
