Guess what kiddos? www.DVDEmpire.com has posted the back cover art for both films and it turns out they have indeed ported over the original bonus features, including the original documentaries on movies plus the deleted scenes from DC. It doesn't mention trailers for either but still, this is good news for completists. I'm definitely in for the double dip now.
The SONY 3rd edition SE had an isolated score-which they then dropped
The cover art is GREAT. I may pick these up now that I am digging the artwork. Depends on if there $19.99 or $14.99.
I've loved both these films for a long time now, but I am much more a fan of The dark Crystal. If this had been released by itself, I would say this is a precusor to the forthcoming sequel. Hopefully there'll be a preview in this DVD.

Sweet! it had a great score.

Wonderful artcover for the Dark Crystal, very nice.

I'll probably buy Labyrinth and put it in a double disc case with the earlier one, and sell my current copy of Dark Crystal to afford the new Labyrinth. I hate DC.
Well, gotta hand it to Jim Henson Enterprises, they seem to be putting the Lucasfilm playbook to good use. They just released these so this is almost a triple dip.
Mmmmm, Jennifer Connelly. Sweetness.
Labyrinth's artwork is like afterbirth.
Fantastic artwork for both DVDs! I can't wait to pick these up.

WHAT??? That's sacriledge!!! There will be no dissing of the Showgirls: VIP Edition around here!!! LOL!LOL, your right. I don't know if you've heard, but it's all about dissing the all new and devistatingly unnecessary "Fully Exposed Edition" now!

Tht's some badass DC artwork.
Artwork now added for The Dark Crystal
I just picked up the Soundtrack(Labyrinth) this weekend.
Don`t own Labyrinth yet so I might get this :D
(sorry, took a lunch break) Remind me of the babe.
That cover makes the movie look really cold and creepy. I preferred the browns and stuff from the previous covers. And surely the goblins are too big a part of the movie not to appear on the cover?!? I mean the goblins are synonymous with Labyrinth.
Will be picking up this as well as Dark Crystal. These films encouraged you to dream and make believe. This is something we miss in the CGI era. I like simplicity and elegance of the cover art for Labyrinth. I agree with the above post that the original extras should have been ported over to this release. I will go on and keep those and pick these up.
I love that they're giving both of these films the 2-disc treatment and adding the featurettes but why must they leave off the bonus materials from the original release? Labyrinth had a vintage hour long doc and Crystal had a vintage doc plus deleted scenes and all those great conceptual sketches and both films had trailers (but don't even get me started on those studios that arbitrarily leave trailers off the dvd). It's just that if they're going to the trouble of quadruple-dipping us on these same movies and call them "Anniversary Editions," I wish they would load them up with all of the materials we know to exist. I realize nobody is forcing me to re-buy these films but as a dvd enthusiast, it maddens me and I especially don't like having more than one copy of the same movie on my dvd shelf just to ensure I have all available bonus materials between the multiple releases.
Do what?
You do.
Who do?
The power of Voodoo...
What power?
The babe with the power...

so the dark crystal and Labyrinth have been realesed what 8 times on DVD now?
YEAH, since there $50 versions didn't sell, everytime I went to best buy I would see them there for $50 and say to myself, I don't care how many special features this movie has, I ain't paying $50.
I'll see what you get when they come out and decide if I wanna uprade.

"new HiDef transfers" ha!
The only way we will know is if the VOB files ar within 3-4 months before the release.
Otherwise, they are just reusing the 2002 "remastered" edition.
What-isnt this about the 10th time DC has come out?
Neck and neck with Army of Darkness

Labyrinth will now be added to the collection. David Bowie should act more but in the 1980's he had a very few memorable roles and this was one of them.

course this happens after i just bought that last special edition of dark crysal.....i just have the original labyrinth so that'll be worth upgrading...
one question though, are the hour long documentaries from the 80s that the last releases contain still on these?

I think that's just refering to the material used in the extra material. I'm still awaiting the press releases unfortunately so things are still a little sketchy.

Both DVD's will be released in the UK on October 1 according to www.sphe.co.uk.
I thought so...
Didn't they just re-release these?
Cool. Sound like a decent excuse to upgrade the versions that I have, only other movie I've done this with is Princess Bride.
